because you love the pet and

    1. you don’t want to do that to them (being confused why you left them)
    2. you have no way to be sure what happens to them after your death.

that’s not really a discussion. doing it the other way around is so incredibly selfish that anyone who thinks that way should not have a pet

  • i have always wondered how this works from the legal point. what if you disagree, should you sue to get your money back? you are buying product with some expectations, they can’t just change that after you paid, can they?

it is similar with cars, what if you buy new car and the car’s infotainment asks you to accept some outrageous terms and conditions, you do bother to actually read them and then decline. can you get your money back? has anyone ever tried?

  • Donald Trump is no stranger to outlandish conspiracies or strange social media posts. But, by any measure, his post on Saturday night was particularly bizarre. The president posted (and later removed) a clip on Truth Social of a Fox News segment with Lara Trump detailing the White House’s announcement of the world’s first MedBed hospital and a national MedBed card system (two things that very much do not exist). There was no additional context, no text to explain things. Confusing matters more, the video appears to be completely AI generated, including Trump himself discussing the program in the Oval Office. (Perhaps one of the biggest giveaways being the president’s ability to stay on script.)

wait, so he released fake ai video of himself (quite possibly not having an idea whether what he was looking at had or had not actually happened?) every time you think it can’t get any worse, they somehow manage to move the threshold even lower…

  • the headline sounds fucking scary, but i wonder what the reality really is. i am in my fourties, i remember news being printed on the paper, and i understand the media world and what the difference is between trustworthy media and tabloid.

still, lemmy is often times the first place where i see specific news, esp. regarding us politics (i am from eu) - but i choose links to reputable sources (which is not that hard, because lot of times the same info is linked 5 times from the different sources) and verify if needed.

so “gets news from social networks” would sound more ominous than i think my reality is. i don’t have tiktok, so i have no idea what the reality is there.

  • I can see you’re going through something really significant and distressing. While I understand you feel certain about what you’re experiencing, some of what you’re describing - the sudden overwhelming perception of hidden patterns everywhere, the intense paranoia about who to trust, and feeling like you can’t determine what’s real - are things that mental health professionals are trained to help people work through.

I’m not saying your observations about systems or power aren’t valid, but the level of distress and the way this realization hit you so suddenly after being ‘suppressed for 10 years’ suggests it would be worth talking to someone qualified to help you sort through what you’re experiencing. A therapist or counselor could help you process these feelings and thoughts in a safe space, regardless of whether this is a mental health concern or just a really overwhelming shift in perspective.

You mentioned feeling isolated and unable to talk to family or friends - that alone is reason enough to reach out to a professional who can provide that support.
