Maybe it started with Vader trying to find the pilot of that hunk of junk that not only spent a few hours in the hangar of the Death Star, but also later came back and shot him and gave the X-wing (with the pilot that he felt was strong in the Force) an assist? Vader figured that the ship was a smuggling ship and that maybe Boba might know something about it. Yada yada, he learns that a kid named Skywalker was picked up on Tattooine by that same ship. I mean, there was that Elephant faced dude working as an Imperial informant on Mos Eisley that sent Stormtroopers after the droids being smuggled onto that very same ship…

You bring up one of my annoyances with Lucas. It’s clear, when re-watching Jedi that Luke’s black attire is intended to be the dress of a Jedi, indicating that he’s finally made it as a full-fledged Jedi knight. And if you look at both Kenobi and Yoda, they are wearing some kind of brown colored shirt under their busted robes that has a similar collar like what Luke is wearing in Jedi. So, like, the robes are covering a Jedi uniform, but are not themselves actual Jedi dress.

By the prequels, Lucas has completely forgotten this and makes Kenobi and Yoda look like they’re stupid. And Vader too, for that matter. But, the bright side is that wonderful blue drip that Ben is rocking in the Kenobi series might not have happened, so… trade off?

Just think, due to budget distribution, we got “Family” right after “Best of Both Worlds, pt. 2” and it’s among the best Picard-centric episodes (and provided thematic ground for Generations, First Contact, and Picard–for good and not-so-good)!

Holy! I didnʻt know it was on GameBoy either! I still have my NES cart. Iʻve also been playing it again, off and on, via Delta (by mirroring my iPad through an old AppleTV I picked up for $3). That game rules.

Lots of people assume priests only work on Sundays. They also assume that we don’t have much of a life outside of the priesthood. I get that sometimes when I’m getting dressed after surfing (“you guys can surf?”). I also have a wife and four kids, which also surprises people (my wife and I sometimes meet up for lunch dates and I always get amused when I see someone who thinks they’ve happened upon some scandal in the making).

Here’s the deal: given enough time, it WILL work! I’ve tried it! See, what I do is I reach my hand out toward the remote and close my eyes and stay there. Sometimes it comes quickly, other times it takes several minutes. But the remote always winds up in my hand.

Sure, it’s because either my wife or one of my kids has intuited what I’m trying to do and they walk it over to me. But, hey, I’m still getting the remote to my hand regardless!

I’ve seen the something similar on Mastodon. It’s become colonized by some of the worst of Twitter’s offal. A lot of them moved over to Bluesky, but I’ve seen a return since that platform’s shittiness finally emerged. Negative and fear-mongering news posts as well as entitled snark. It’s still better than the alternatives, but I’m starting to think that maybe the algorithms were only part of the overall problem… But at least I have the means to moderate what I see.

My wife, who’s an accountant, never really played video games growing up. When we got married, she liked to hang out on the couch while I played various Zelda titles (I think WindWaker HD was the first one she got really into with me, and she’d become a second set of eyes). She was the one who helped me understand how a video game is maybe the most value for one’s money of all the entertainment options. For a long time, games were still around $50 (which was even the price when I was a kid) and she was kind of blown away at the notion that you could pay $50 for something and have like 80+ hours of enjoyment when going to a movie was like the same price for only two hours and going to a play was often even more expensive. An album is still pretty great deal-wise because you can get years of enjoyment out of that. But in terms of a story-telling medium, a video game is still an amazing value for what you get (even at $80).

My problem with what is going on with this game and Sony in general is the idea that they want me to pay $80 for something that, due to DRM, I’m not actually owning. If they want me to pay that kind of money for something that I feel like I have actual ownership of, with a reasonable expectation that I can play it for years to come (like I can with my SNES and Saturn and whatnot), then I’m still happy to pay $80 for it. But I am not given that assurance. I thought Tears of the Kingdom was worth the price (and still do). But I have the card on my shelf and so long as I have a Switch I can play it.

Saw an article a few weeks back that said something about how Rockstar was ensuring availability for the game. Availability? For a download?

Also, why bother pre-ordering? The whole idea of pre-ordering is so that you can ensure you have the game when it comes out because there are limitations on supply meeting demand on the printing of a disc. Again, this is a download. Other than some artificially limited exclusives (which, again, are downloads and will probably be made available again at a later date) there is no reason to pre-order. Unless you want the game to just automatically install for you, I can’t think of a real reason for pre-ordering this. (Disclosure: I am old and I practically never download big games–not at launch anyway)

I found GTAV at a thrift store for $4.99 several months back. Bought it. Still haven’t played it lol

I collect both but have begun focusing more on CDs for their portability, price, and their ease of digitization. I’m actually in the middle of extracting CDs I recently picked up at the thrift store as I type this. I have an MP3 player and I load them on there, keep them on my hard-drive AND a separate back up. I still have CDs from the 90s and have had no issues with them playing or being digitized.
