It pains me to say it, but I don’t watch any new AVGN episodes. James has gotten into that phase where he’s just a parody of himself now. In the old episodes, it seems like he GENUINELY gets angry at the games, but nowadays it’s very clear that he’s acting. His crude humor and angry rants just come off as obligatory and contrived now. The old episodes had a VIBE to them, like you’re in a dark basement playing games with a weird nerd. The new episodes just feel like a polished, scripted show. And I know James has to make money, but seeing the Nerd do an ad read is just too jarring. I hate it.

His pillows are overpriced junk. Just saying.

Earth is turning into more of a Venus situation.

I’ll be honest, I actually kind of like the smell of cigarettes, which is why I ain’t touching that shit. I know I’d get hooked.

Pretty sure this guy also wants to bring back slavery. Of course he imagines himself to be an owner, not a slave.

The nature of work (employment) under capitalism is different though.

1. It overrides intrinsic motivations (love, community, fun, meeting needs) and forces upon us an extrinsic motivation (make as much money for the boss as possible or starve to death.)
2. It is inherently cruel and wasteful. We already produce enough to meet everyone’s needs, yet the capitalist hoards the fruits of working class labor, then forces us to buy it back from them. And whatever can’t be sold will be discarded rather than given to people who need it. Food will be thrown into dumpsters while children starve in the streets. Poverty is a feature under capitalism, not a bug. When you see a hungry person under capitalism, remember that they are not hungry because they failed to earn food, they are hungry because food was willfully withheld from them.
3. It is inherently exploitative. Your employer will never pay you the full value of your labor. If they did, they wouldn’t have any incentive to employ you. They always steal some or a lot of the value you produce with your labor.
4. It is inherently authoritarian and alienating. It separates you from the fruits of your labor. It forces you to compete with your coworkers. You have no say in what you produce, how you produce, and where you send it after it’s produced. You have no say in the hours you work, when you take breaks, what you wear, how you talk, and how to treat customers. If you break the rules, your employer will deprive you and your family of your livelihood.

Yes, children will always work. Work is a good thing. But it is for all the above reasons and more that we must not let capitalists employ children. And they’re also the reasons why capitalism must be abolished entirely. It cannot be reformed.

I don’t disagree.

As a leftist, I’m on board with this sentiment. But as an ex-right-winger, I know this would exclude me from my current community. We should allow space for growth and reconciliation, but if you still support Trump and the Republicans at this point, fuck you.

Yeah, development has been rough. But I’m still cautiously optimistic. They expect to release early access later this year, so we’ll see.

And don’t forget about Wayward Realms, the indie spiritual successor to Daggerfall. If they can successfully pull off their ambitious vision, it could be one of the greatest RPGs of all time.

Unfortunately, there’s no ethical consumption under capitalism. And it becomes even more difficult after we are stuck with a few mega monopolies that own everything. No matter where you buy from, your money is supporting the exploitation of workers.

This isn’t always an option, unfortunately. Some books for example are only available on Amazon. When I go to the author’s website, they just link to Amazon.

Oh I definitely noticed. That’s a large part of why I hate ads. They’re unbearably obnoxious and obtuse.

I get banned by bots on Reddit all the time for stupid reasons. When I appeal, if I’m lucky enough to contact a human moderator, they just tell me to “follow the bot’s instructions.” But the bot’s instructions usually involve deleting the completely harmless or well-meaning comment I made. Fuck that.

Texan here. Winter used to be a nice break from our hot, humid, miserable summers. Now some years I don’t even need to wear a jacket. It’s just hot all year round now. I hate it.
