Damn. I usually got around that by having people send things to me to fix at my workbench, and then I mail them back.

I plan on getting TF2ENGR on mine some day
Technically, you’re basically just protecting them from being accused of “Friendly fraud” by Amazon. All of the deliveries are insured, and the customer will still get the item eventually. You’ll just be costing Amazon’s insurer and theoretically raising their premiums.
Although it’s debatable if that’s a net benefit or cost to society lol, reminds me of those posts that say to randomly shoot a gun from a safe place within your city to lower home prices.

6·1 day agoI deleted my google account and moved all of my youtube activity onto Grayjay (since it doesn’t require any account and any saved “subscriptions” are stored on your device locally), maybe that could be an option for you? They even have a desktop client now :)

18·1 day agoHonestly, even as an American (from California - a rare state of sanity in this damn country), I’ve been moving to de-google and move away from stuff like reddit for months now at this point. Especially since user data requests by our federal government (and likely other world governments) are an open secret that these companies can’t really refuse.
Glad to see y’all on the same path :)

8·4 days agoRegarding the Nintendo Switch, it’s because of their engineered malicious USB-C protocol design that makes the console “Not behave like a good USB citizen should”. It’s less of an issue with the peripherals as a whole.

60·4 days agoYou can look up most of the issues with the standard, but TL;DR: DRM, expensive licensing fees, suboptimal performance compared to DisplayPort, and not able to be implemented in FOSS or even OSS systems (because of the shitty DRM which can be circumvented by an AliExpress splitter lmao)

I wonder how economical it would be to do a homemade EV conversion once my car’s engine is no longer feasible to maintain.
