14·4 days agoYeah also did that for my recent site using StaticBuilder and Codeberg. Took longer but well worth supporting smaller businesses.
Btw, if people are passionate about this topic. There is a community and website on !purchasewithpurpose@lemmy.world .

Fair enough - haven’t tried it myself so went off some peoples comments. I’ll do a deeper dive into EndeavorOS but likely needs to be put in a different category.

2·12 days agoCompletely agree on this, and maybe I mispoke. I meant that Shift isn’t entirely open-sourced. You are right that Chrome based on Chromium is open-sourced.
I tend to favour Firefox forks though as I have more trust in Mozilla as the primary developer.

5·13 days agoA fair question, the main driver of these guides/sites is to help people move away from Big US Tech, as they are by far the most culpable in all of this. So I include some of these alternatives in case it has something needed for someone to switch.
It is also useful to know that some of these alternatives are excellent in their own right, not simply because the other choices are being removed. This is made clearer on the website, where you can see the features listed.
