I feel like it’s drifting into the tactical assault shed family.

2·4 days agoThis info is coming from a relative who was working in France. My understanding was he didn’t automatically get any of France’s scheduled holidays of unless he used leave to do so. So the bank of 15 “national holidays” was effectively converted into more leave.

3·4 days ago32% is very comparable to Nixon right before he resigned, and GWB at his lowest depths. As far as I know those are pretty much the lowest presidential approval ratings ever recorded.
The fact that Trump has now joined this club is really significant in terms of making things happen politically in America.
Estimating the state of charge on a lithium battery is extremely complicated and difficult. And they stopped showing the numbers earlier because they didn’t want you to see how inaccurate they were.
Nowadays, the models are better and more sophisticated, but the tradition continues.

Legal News@lemmy.zip•U.S. Taxpayers Have Paid At Least $1.1 Million in Attorneys' Fees to Unlawfully Detained ImmigrantsEnglish
9·6 days agoI realize this point might not be obvious:
Adults in immigration detention are not entitled to be appointed a lawyer.
To win attorneys’ fees, the immigrant has to hire a private lawyer. That lawyer has to file a habeas petition. They have to win the habeas petition. A court has to find that the detention was unlawful. Then, they have to move for attorneys’ fees as a sanction after the case is over, and it’s an uphill battle to win that.
This is the quality Lemmy content that I come here for.
Don’t forget the Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. (and KFC).

221·7 days agoDepends probably on the nature of what “forwarded the costs” means.
If the business collected the costs from you and then forwarded them to CBP while acting as your agent, then you can demand a refund from them or sue them.
If you agreed to purchase goods for one price while also agreeing to pay a separate “tariff reimbursement fee” in exchange for purchasing the goods, you’re probably shit out of luck.
Various shades in between might be arguable or litigatable one way or another.
Trump specifically alleged in the lawsuit that he filed that the BBC caused him to lose a bunch of money. He should expect the BBC to be able to obtain documents that would tend to prove or disprove how much money he lost.
His lawyers should have definitely seen this one coming. And they shouldn’t wait until the day before the deadline to file their opposition. The one-day “emergency” is completely of their own creation.

11·7 days agoIf you already received your item(s) and you don’t immediately need to do any more business with them, it sounds like they don’t have a lot of leverage to get you to pay.
Sounds like that might have been a screw up on their part.

1202·7 days agoIf you, as a consumer, directly paid one of the illegal tariffs, you can get a refund via the shipper who acted as an agent for you.
For example, here’s the form if you shipped something over the border using UPS and paid an illegal tariff to get it released from customs.

The C32A, the plane Trump actually went on, pretty much has all of the same stuff as the VC25A. It’s just based on Boeing 757, which is a single aisle airliner.
