It’s a very big tonal and gameplay shift, but my biggest issue with Jak 2 is the sudden spike in difficulty. Missions are long, often lack checkpoints, and enemies kill you so easily. Those racing missions still haunt me to this day.
On the other hand, Jak 3 is my favorite one in the franchise. It’s still closer to the 2nd but it’s such a fun ride with a bigger focus on exploration and platforming again rather than combat. Love that game to death.
I’m with you, the first half hour were brilliant but the rest of the movie kinda fell flat. It was a lot of going to random places to get random macguffin pieces they need to solve the plot. I’m hopeful Wildwood will have better writing.
It can handle everything up to PS1 perfectly (including GBA). I played a lot of PS1 on it now. It can also handle a lot of Dreamcast but probably not the more intensive games. I played a lot of Crazy Taxi on it and it seems to work just fine.
It can only run simple PSP games. I tried running Tekken 6 on it and it just kept dropping frames and slowing down.
It’ll fit in most pockets but this thing is pretty thick, so you’ll have a visible square bulge on your average jeans haha. It’s about ~2.5x thicker than my phone when closed. It’s just small enough to be pocketable but it’s definitely more practical to carry it in bigger pockets or a jacket pocket.
That said, the new model (RG SP) is thinner than this one, so that one might be better. You might also like the Miyoo Mini Flip which is smaller overall.
Warms my heart that people are still playing & porting flash games. I was one of the people helping out with the Flashpoint project, submitting Flash games and testing the ones in the archive. Having them on Android devices sounds very cool.
It’s better than you’d expect but still a bit cramped. You’ll have to curl your fingers in the back when holding it which might get uncomfortable when doing it for a long time. I think it’s fine unless you’re playing multiple hour sessions.
If ergonomics are your #1 concern you’re likely better off with a horizontal handheld so your hands can hold the whole thing without issues.
Not at all. They’re not in the way when I’m playing on the Dpad or face buttons so after some time you forget they’re even there. The device would visually look cleaner without them, so I can see why some people would prefer the new one without the sticks.
As for playing on the sticks, they’re OK. They’re quite small and not super comfy, but they’re definitely nice to have if you’re playing a game that uses them like some PS1 racing games.
FYI Doom The Dark Ages was available day 1 on game pass and they were boasting on social media that they had over 3 million players on the first week if I remember right.
It’s Microsoft’s fault the game didn’t sell. Most people (me included) opted to subscribe to game pass for a month instead.

The Iliad happened before the odyssey, actually. And he definitely won’t make an Iliad movie because the trojan war was already covered in the movie.
It’s so unbelievably stupid, I don’t know how Xbox is constantly surprised many of their games flop when they are constantly booting the only talented devs they had. id Software is one of the most talented studios they have, and one of THE most talented graphics programmers in the industry. WHY would you fire them when at the very least you could move them to help in a different project instead of firing them? Literally just take them and make them help with the next Fallout. God.

Note that it doesn’t work with hardcore mode, that still requires an online connection. I’ve used this on my handheld though and it works like a charm. Whenever I connect to the internet it syncs all the achievements I got.

No. I love achievements (and RA) for a number of reasons. The biggest one is that it’s a very effective progress tracker, telling you exactly how much of the game you finished and what you missed. I often take a look at my RA profile to know which games I finished and which I might want to go back to later. RA also provides game suggestions based on what you finished. Maybe OP doesn’t care, but 10 years down the line when you’re reminiscing over older games you’ve played, browsing your cheevo list is a very nice experience.
The other reason is that achievements often let you engage with a game in ways you never would have. Many achievements give you a challenge to do something creative or push you to find a secret you never would’ve found otherwise.
And obviously, bragging rights. Doing something really hard in a game should be recorded so you can show others or compare to the community. I wouldn’t have spent a lot of time beating Hollow Knight on Steel Soul mode if I can’t have it on my profile and show it to friends. This isn’t weird, it’s part of the reason they exist - comparing achievements with friends.
The blog also completely missed that this isn’t some newfangled phenomenon that was forced upon gamers. People have been recording high scores of games since the '80s. People have been building leaderboards in arcades or taking pictures to show others how far they pushed themselves on a game. It’s not new. Achievements and online leaderboards just made it more convenient and universal so everyone can get involved.
And if you dislike achievements, it’s really not hard to ignore them. Sorry that getting a tiny notification in the corner of your screen every few hours is ruining the immersion or whatever.
Spiderman is one of the most popular franchises ever and the most popular superhero worldwide, so it’s not that surprising. The Odyssey crossing 1 billion while not being part of a franchise is more impressive imo.
Just saw it, I thought it was mediocre and really lacking, it was more like half a movie with lots of unresolved plot lines compared to the last 3 spiderman movies.
Why would they introduce Jean and then not resolve her plot line… At all? She starts the movie on the run, looks for her sister, realizes she’s dead, then goes back to being on the run. It didn’t really feel like we accomplished anything.
Also, the twist of her not being the villain is CRAZY to me because she was insanely evil and spent most of the movie messing with spiderman, threatening to kill his girlfriend, possessing multiple people and making them attempt suicide, and causing untold damage… only for the movie to end with “actually she’s a really nice person deep down inside?” What??? She was blatantly evil and sadistic, and now she’s just cool and misunderstood?
Half of the plot is just spiderman getting the confidence to re-introduce himself to his friends. I totally get why they’re doing it and it’s nice that they reconnect in a believable way… But it’s just such a boring plot idea. The whole emotional core of the movie is just “guy connects with characters he used to be friends with last movie”.
The Hand is also just hanging out in New York and it’s never explained or resolved. Spiderman’s powers freaking out is never resolved but I guess it’s just implied he gets over it now that he has friends again. Jean Gray baits you into thinking they’re introducing mutants to the MCU but they never do. The director guy was supposedly left alive but we never see if anything happened to him…? Did they just let him go with zero consequences?
So much wasted potential and wasted time. Everything was kinda half assed. The only thing I can really say I liked was the direction, it felt a lot more dynamic and less flat than the other Tom Holland spiderman movies. I loved the swinging scenes. Everything else? Bleh.

I love Deepnest, honestly. It seems like a horrifying confusing maze in your first playthrough but once you’re done with it you realize it’s not as big or scary as it seems. I could do without the last part of you escaping, but it really isn’t that bad. Unless you’re scared of insects, then it’s really bad.
I’m with you on that. It’s all fun and games until pantheon 4 and especially pantheon 5. I like the idea but it just takes so long and the fact that you have to repeat 20+ minutes of bosses to take another attempt at the ultra hard bosses at the end… It’s just bad.
Hollow Knight is one of my favorite games ever btw, but Godhome is most definitely not worth the massive time sink it demands from you.
Also related: The Crash Bandicoot games took a similar nosedive in the PS2 era. Crash of the Titans was alright but the other ones I played were awful.
