Hey Lemmy.world friends!

It was recommended I pop in here and introduce myself, my instance, and my community. I recently spun up a new kbin instance at https://fediverse.boo to help share the load of some of the new users that have been arriving and that will arrive in the coming weeks. It’s currently running on a 2 vCPU / 4GB memory server but can certainly be scaled if the community there grows. There are currently about 10 of us on here so plenty of room available still.

User registration is open if you are looking at making an account on the kbin side of things. I’ve also went ahead and subscribed to the top communities on the top instances so my instance is already pre-populated with a lot of the higher engagement stuff.

I’ve been posting news stories I find interesting over at https://fediverse.boo/m/news on there. Mostly science, tech, and Econ news with some world and US national mixed in. I personally stay away from posting political stuff there since I’m not looking to stoke the echo chamber flames.

I’ve been a lurker on Reddit for the past 10 years so I’m trying this whole “contributing” thing here. I’m hoping that together we can make the fediverse a cool place to hang out and have great content to engage with without worrying about our corporate overlords.

I really hope I’m posting in the right place to share, if I’m not… definitely let me know! Additionally, leave me any feedback or questions I’m definitely open to hearing either as the fediverse has been a big learning experience!
