I grew up in toronto when active surplus was still kickin’ and you could browse for hours, just soaking it all in and getting inspired.
I have a few projects in mind. Mostly things I want to do with electromechanical controls for around the house and I’d love to find a place in eastern ontario that is similar. I know for mechanical components some of the flea markets are a good place to go, but what about electronics? Does such a magical place exist???
I know about pi shop which has some of the things I am looking for but I’d love a brick and mortar junk shop to wander.
Posting in Ottawa because it seems like the best bet, but I’m not specifically looking for Ottawa. Anywhere 613 would be great.
The only thing I am aware of that comes even slightly close is the surplus department of Princess Auto.
I will have to give it a look, thanks!
Not a junk shop, but if you’re looking for electronic components, Accessotronik (aka Gervais Electronics) has quite a bit of individual components.
I also wish I knew of a junk shop in Ottawa. We had a huge one when I lived in Phoenix and it was great wandering around there and finding stuff.
This is helpful, thank you!
@Arcanepotato There used to be several around. All gone afaict 😞 Anchor in a small mall near Richmond and Carling, Kris Electronics near Pinecrest mall and one other in Smiths Falls. I bet a #maker #HamRadio #AmateurRadio tag would help here.
Thank you!! It’s not my interest but I know of at least one ham radio club. Maybe I could contact them and see if they have any leads.
@Arcanepotato OARC? I used to be prez. 😀 I think you’d have a better chance with https://wcarc.ca/
That club is much more into building and experimenting.LOL yes! Thanks for the tips.
