Logged in a few minutes ago and noticed that reputation in my account was much higher then before. Guessing it might be counted now.
@holo_nexus I want to point the post of me created a few hours ago before the pseudo fix. The developer replied there, so you might be interested: https://kbin.social/m/AskKbin/t/125046/Why-don-t-upvotes-count#entry-comment-490554 It’s a quick fix and there is still some work to be done. But yes, this pretty much confirms it.
I was kinda hoping the whole “Reputation” thing could just be deleted so we don’t get the karmawhoring problem that plagued Reddit, but now, I guess I can actually upvote someone more than once, so that’s a thing!
@0xtero Well, boosting is more like retweeting to your microblog for your followers.
Oh, baby, I don’t even know where to start spending all these!
Might I interest you in one of my favorites?
🥳 nice one @ernest
What does this mean for boost now?
Hey, boost == 2*upvote. Simple as that ;)
Does this count only for personal account reputation scores, or does this also count toward any sorting algos on the platform?
No, there is no connection between reputation points and sorting algorithms. It’s just info in the profile.
I have to admit, I do like the two being separated.
“Likes” and votes about relevancy getting mixed up on Reddit was a legitimate problem over there.
hope it stays that way, thats wonderful
Hey, okay, that explains it, was looking at my reputation to check and see if this was legit and couldn’t get the numbers to match up. I’m not some crazy person counting up 100s of posts, I’ve only got like 6, pretty quick math.
Thanks for all you do ernest, loving it here!
Cool 👍 Also what happened to “favourites”, I can no longer see upvoted (saved) posts?
fav == upvote (/fav)
boost == boosts (/u/pizzadreams/boosts)Ah I see. Working as intended now 👌
Then I just gave you 3 upvotes :)
Thanks for taking care of ernest!
It feels a little weird to me that we can manually upvote our own comments and posts on kbin.
Reddit would automatically set them at +1 because it’s implied that the author would want to upvote their own contributions, and it’s one less hassle if it’s done automatically.
Alternatively, new posts and comments can start at 0, but then I feel like authors should not be able to upvote their own contributions.
Wait…we are supposed to upvote our own comment? Thanks for the info, I was confused on that one and thought it was a glitch.
We’ll I have a bunch now, so it’s fixed as far as I can tell. It’d be nice to just have it hidden though tbh, or we’ll just get the same karma farming garbage over here that we had on Reddit.
My personal opinion, of course.
Yes, if there is one lesson we should have learned from Reddit it’s that internet points aren’t great for fostering real discussion and debate.
Still, with so many new link aggregation platforms appearing to fill the Reddit void, hopefully we still end up with something better.
Yep, I didn‘t even notice.
Can confirm.
Damn. I’m finally in the positive.
Not that I care too much about imaginary internet points, but a couple “controversial” (differing opinions) comments on a topic and you looked like a negative karma troll at first glance.Looks like karma is back on the menu boiiis.
Just checked my profile and… it has to be. I went from -1k-something reputation to 6000+ in the course of today. only way that could’ve happened is if the upvotes thing is fixed.
I see it got fixed too, I was at like -102 because I thought that submarine company should have paid for its own search and rescue lol
I am guessing so since just before I saw this post I checked my profile and it was at 3k. Up from 200 or so.
Ya mine went from 100 to zero to almost 800, I’m guessing it must have finally been fixed.
Yeah, they fixed it.
The bulk of the accounts had either sub-zero or single-digit reputation, which was weird. And it maybe have discouraged people from joining kbin from reddit, where karma was more easy to understand.
