For you apple watch users, whatever you do , do not update to the public beta of watchOS. 1) You’ll need to be running iOS 17 to do so, and 2) you cannot downgrade without having to go to the Apple Store.

I have it on my primary device and it’s good so far. The problem is the keyboard but it’s been better

I know - its just the betas always come out just when I’m about to take my summer holiday abroad, which is absolutely the worst time to have a flaky phone, or one where your banking app doesn’t work. So each time I have this struggle. Usually give in around beta 5

i regret it every time when my shortcuts stop working on my HomePods. after seeing some of the nightmareish bricking or overheating beta updates for the OG HomePods it’s just not worth it to me risk downloading the beta profiles. it bites me every year when i inevitably can’t hold out anymore. i wish shortcuts would keep working without updating the HomePods too.

I downloaded the public beta and so far it’s actually been really good. It appears to have solved an issue I had with Verizon reception so that’s nice. Loving all the little improvements.

    Issues I’ve run into:

    • if I try to rearrange my homescreens, it causes the phone to crash
    • at first I could not pick a different Lock Screen but that issue sorted itself out after about an hour.
    • occasionally the keyboard does not appear when I go to respond to a text message. But it’s not consistent and closing and reopening the messages app solves the problem.

So far battery life seems the same. My phone did run hot yesterday for a few hours after updating (which happens with every major update in my experience), but today it is normal temperature and running fine.

Every time I want to install new beta of iOS, I keep remind myself my bank app would break in Beta nearly all the time…

On my 11 Pro Max it feels noticeably worse. Still usable, but feels like the battery drains really quick compared to iOS 16 stable.
