use firefox + ublock, i have yet to see an ad on youtube with this.
also stuff like privacy badger is useful
Add sponsorblock to that list as well. Must have for YouTube viewing
I just got this today and am loving it.
I thought privacy badger was redundant and actually could be “harmfull” if you already use ublock?
THE essential one is ublock origin imo.
Other than that if its a PC i will browse youtube on then sponsorblock and dearrow are both really greatGet off Chrome. It might be used by most, but it collects so much information and Google is neutering ad blockers. Not to mention that not using Firefox contributes to the monoculture of webkit and blink, which has a long list of problems. Overall, Firefox is better for users and the web overall.
Ublock Origin and Cookieautodelete. I personally also have dark reader on every browser I use.
Dark Reader is essential!
🔥 🦊
ublock Origin.
I have 4 extensions installed. One that is not released created by myself that allows me to scrape all links of the current tab and show them in filterable list. One for downloading images from Instagram, one that removes YouTube shorts, and one that is delivers community-provided timestamps for videos to skip annoying stuff.

That one that locks me out of thefacebook after fifteen minutes. Well, any website really, but that’s what I use it for.

Firefox is my personal favorite but you need to be sure and launch the Chrome browser using the Firefox icon for it to work.
Https everywhere
- Translate Web Pages - translates entire pages into your language, can do it automatically. Google Chrome may have this feature built-in but other Chromium browsers don’t.
- Bitwarden - password manager.
- Consent-O-Matic, automatically fills out cookie banners for you (e.g, it’ll auto deny all cookies). This is better than just hiding or ignoring the cookie banner. It doesn’t work on every cookie banner though.
- Decentraleyes - “Protects you against tracking through “free”, centralised, content delivery. It prevents a lot of requests from reaching networks like Google Hosted Libraries, and serves local files to keep sites from breaking. Complements regular content blockers.”
- uBlock Origin - with the right filters, this will catch almost any ads, trackers, and help protect you from malware while browsing the web.
Some bonus ones that aren’t really essential but nice to have:
- Imagus - Enlarge thumbnails, and show images/videos from links with a mouse hover.
- Coutry Flag Fixer - properly displays flag emojis
- Dark Reader - nice dark mode for any website.
- Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on - Tells the Google Analytics JavaScript not to send information to Google Analytics.
- IBA Opt-out - Opt out of Google’s interest-based ads as you browse the web with Chrome.
- Reddit Enhancement Suite - if you still use old.reddit, this will improve your experience significantly.
- SponsorBlock - auto skip sponsors in YouTube videos, and other useless content.
- Stopaganda Plus - displays a bias rating from mediabiasfactcheck.com for countless news outlets. Understanding the biases of news outlets is essential to understanding their point-of-view.
- Web Archives - view archived versions of pages. Particularly useful if you ever come across a link that has since died.
