The construction is somewhat suboptimal. The splint is pulled when the door swings open with enough room to disarm which is penalty intended. So if you are careful that shouldn’t be an issue. I usually don’t open foreign doors swinging wide while entering the room as if I’m surprising my partner while cheating.

The wall material is not an issue, this is a frag grenade, the fragments will usually penetrate most regular wall materials.
