    Absolute numbers say nothing about how deadly a place is. This should be normalized to number of journalists in each country and maybe even to the countries population. Absolute numbers are a worthless statistic.

      I mean, journalists being killed at all for doing their job of being journalists (which this map is showing) really tells you a lot on the face of it and begs several important questions.

      Such as: why are there so many being killed by virtue of being a journalists in the these specific places. Who is killing a large number of journalists. Why would they prefer to kill journalists instead of the information getting out. Etc

      Beyond that when you see majority 0 deaths then 1s and 2s then fucking 25, there’s something going on that needs to be fixed. It doesn’t matter if that 25 is 1% or 87% of the journalists. It’s still 25 journalists being killed because they’re journalists doing a journalism.
