Hey y’all, I lack the vocabulary to search for what I’m looking for. I have a bazzite desktop, and I found an old nvme with Mint on it. I want to wipe the mint ssd and install windows onto it, and then install that into my bazzite PCs second nvme slot. I know there’s some stuff I need to do to make sure windows doesn’t fuck my bootloader (I think?) but I’m not sure what. And the stuff I’ve been finding is about setting a partition up on the same drive, usually setting up a Linux partition on a Windows drive. So I’m not sure how much of this applies to my situation. I would really appreciate some help/ being pointed in the right direction haha

    Installing with drives separately installed is safest, but if you have windows installed then install Linux on another drive most distros prompt to probe for other OSs and it will crest a boot entry in grub so that you can choose what to boot, rather than using bios to choose temporary boot option.

    A separate EFI partition on the same drive as windows is also enough for windows to leave your boot alone. If you wanted to only use a single drive. This requires a little more care during setup to ensure you great an EFI and root/home partitions without clobbering the WindowsOS partitions

      I think I understand what you’re saying, but just to be sure. Like the other commenter, you’re saying just installing the mint drive while removing the bazzite drive, and flashing windows onto the mint drive, is enough to ensure that windows won’t mess with my bazzite drive once they’re both installed to the motherboard?

    AFAIK, the most failsafe method is to physically detach the drive with Bazzite and plug in the other ssd (the one currently with Mint) and then install Windows (while wiping that drive). Afterwards, you can attach the Bazzite drive again along with the Windows drive.
