On 24 August 2026, cease and desist letters were sent by X Corp. demanding a permanent takedown of Nitter instances and the project’s repository.
UPDATE: Following legal advice, the Nitter project will continue. More details will be announced soon.

I just happened to open the repo and saw this. By now I have my own instance running too at https://stopusingx.com/, forked in https://git.prisma.moe/aichan/nitter. I will have to either sync my repo to the original or switch back to it entirely ;)
Is your instance a publicly usable instance or are you just showing the domain? I don’t have any interest in running my own but wouldn’t mind having access to one
It is publicly usable, so feel free ;) There are also many others available in https://codeberg.org/mv12star/shitter/wiki/Instances
I set up an instance too, but with an authwall because I don’t want to get spammed by bots and hit the rate limit.
It’s great they are keeping it going, for those people who need access to Twitter.
