Looks like everyone who raised awareness about “Mark Zuckerberg Pervert Glasses” ultimately made a real difference <3

I got a pair of Shokz bluetooth bone conduction headphones that I tend to jam next to my prescription glasses and it’d be cool to have that integrated, I imagine this is not going to be even close to that though, just the same perv shit without a camera.

I would also expect them to try leaving a mic in there too so they can continue being perverts, just less obviously.

      Edit: yep, sick fucks:

The camera-free glasses, code-named Luna, will still feature an array of six microphones to allow users to speak to the company’s AI chatbot and its recently-released AI assistant, called Muse. They’ll presumably pick up audio from users’ environments as well, where bystanders may not be aware of the eavesdropping.

It won’t be enough to just remove the cameras and quietly sell them. They’re gonna need to somehow make it very clear there is no camera. Through both an ad campaign and by the styling of the glasses. If they don’t, no one will trust them, or the people wearing them. But, I suspect they’ll try, because it’s shameful to publicly admit fucking up so badly. And, billionaires aren’t good at accepting shame.

If someone is wearing glasses made by Meta and aren’t being held at gunpoint for it, I don’t trust them camera or no camera

There was a dude 3D printing brightly coloured clip ons to cover the camera. Not a bad idea.

Still not touching that shit until someone comes out with one with zero cloud connectivity

Maybe it’s still too early and my coffee hasn’t fully kicked in, but what could be done with these without cloud connectivity? I assume the hardware is severely limited due to power requirements and size limitations.

My phone is wicked smaht as they say. It can easily run detection algorithms fully locally. It already knows peoples faces I’ve tagged in my photos, where I am, what’s my agenda etc.

All the glasses need to do is interface with the phone for all tasks they can’t manage internally.

A smartwatch, but as glasses if you will.

Also if I do want any internet/cloud access, I trust my phone to do that in a way I prefer instead of just giving everything to Zuck’s ad machine.
