Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu flew over Greece, Italy, France and Canada on Thursday on his way to address the UN, despite an International Criminal Court warrant for his arrest.
The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu in November 2024, on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity allegedly committed in Gaza since October 2023.
Netanyahu arrived in the US for a short visit to address the UN General Assembly in New York, where Mayor Zohran Mamdani has said he does not have the authority to arrest the Israeli leader.
It goes like this:
Plane carrying a person accused of crimes against humanity: “Air traffic control ICC this is airplane ABC-123 requesting permission to enter airspace DEF heading 123”
A country that is a signatory to the ICC and obligated to act on an international arrest warrant for persons wanted to stand trial for crimes against humanity if they enter their territory: “Permission denied, if you eneter this airspace you will be escorted to military base HIJ where you will be detained and escorted to the ICC to stand trail for crimes against humanity.”
And then they call your bluff and fly through anyway.
Then what? You shoot down the prime minister of Israel? You single handedly end NATO, make your nation a pariah, cause a rapid expansion of war in the Middle East, plunge the global market into a depression, and run the risk of causing a world war?
Yeah there’s a reason why none of these countries did anything. The ICC is a joke and always has been. It has zero actual authority and it’s only purpose has always been to maintain western dominance in the world.
That’s it.
So you think that these countries would let Putin fly through their airspace?
Absolutely. They’re not going to shoot down and kill a leader of a nuclear power. You’re absolutely insane if you think that’s the encase.
Which is why Putin flies over them whenever he likes, right?
Why would he? Where would he go that he would need to cross Europe? He has no reason to go to North America or anywhere west of Belarus.
