You will be locked out of your local community without Facebook. I’ve been off it for over a decade but needed to get rid of a couch without paying $150 to do it and Facebook was 10 minutes and it’s gone. But a couch is one thing. Anything local requires Facebook.

No fucking excuses. If you have an account you are in full spirit of what they do.

Landfill doesn’t take it for free. It’s probably $50 and maybe borrow a trailer and a vehicle with a hitch.

Nah. I mean I’m off Facebook and own a trailer. I’m actually on your side I’m just trying to be realistic. $150 is too high unless you have to hire a company to haul it away.

You can totally leave Facebook. My wife is still on it but I think she doesn’t use it as much. It’s dying, just far too slowly.

          • I would not say life can’t be lived without it, but it’s more so that Facebook has so successfully commodified the public sphere that it seems almost like a natural, inherent part of contemporary communicative actions.
