It actually works pretty well, you just have to wait a solid 5 seconds after using it and pray to Baahl that it returns

The worst is when you don’t notice right away and then have to backtrack for half an hour to find it again. The Pike is so damn inconsistent, I hope someone fixes it with a mod.

Only had actual problems with it at the final boss, but yeah I totally feel that.
