Other than the use case you have mentioned I can’t see any reason to use it. It would be annoying to have the oven turn off before the food is cooked to perfection, which it rarely is at a prescribed time

Sorry,I should have written P2P. A vpn is advisable for public tracker torrents but not necessary for private trackers. Yes torrents can/are also p2p but public trackers are, by nature, not necessarily safe to use your real IP on.
