Coal can’t be reused, created, or otherwise obtained outside of mining. Until we remove our dependency on coal, mining will continue.

I’ve heard that before but really wonder if it’s true. My last encounter with (I believe Mormons though it’s been a LOT of years ago) was while we were eating dinner. The front door was open with the glass storm door closed. They came to the door, knocked, then stared at us while we were eating dinner as a family. We stared back and they proceeded to knock another 3 times before leaving. I mean, regardless of what you are at the door for that’s just rude as fuck so how would they expect a nice response?!

For me it’s anyone that comes to my doorstep trying to sell something (including religion). To get to that point you have to walk past TWO “no soliciting” signs. That makes the person blind, incompetent, or both.

Usually around 74F in the summer but I’ll bump it if the temps outside hit the mid 90s. 64 in the winter, I like it cold. I run a portable AC in the master bedroom during the summer while we sleep. Bit of a story there.

This is what the OG Netflix was. It solved the delivery issue Gabe has so famously talked about. I stopped pirating when Netflix launched and used it for years. Then every company had to splinter out their own streaming service taking a reasonable monthly fee back to cable prices and a fragmented ecosystem. I’ve gone back to solving the delivery issue with a $60 a year VPN and piracy. Am I proud about it? Absolutely not. Am I going to continue until there is a better answer? 100%. We’ve gone SIGNIFICANTLY backwards from where Netflix started.

And yes, I get I can subscribe to services here and there then drop them but that still comes back to the delivery issue. I have to actively manage services and make sure I cancel them when I don’t need them anymore. This is a huge inconvenience and not something I have a desire to try and manage. Give me back my OG Netflix dammit!

You should be smarter going forward. There is ZERO chance this is the end. Film companies are going to keep trying this shit over and over again hoping to get a bite. And it seems with the splintering of streaming services coupled with price increases lots of previous pirates are returning to their old habits.

I’m of the “old fart” variety that recalls the days of IRC and totally agree. Back even before forums those communities run off servers in peoples basements were a treasure trove of knowledge and community. I have very fond memory of making real connections with people there. As you pointed out, that simply doesn’t exist on an article with comments.

Probably a dumb question as I’m new to all of this, but how can you tell where someone is posting from?

We do appreciate the kudos, I’ll relay to the team on Discord! We take (probably now took) a REALLY hard-line against political BS regardless of party. We even use(d) automod to filter out political parties, big name politicians, etc. It really is a thankless job and it was common to get called names daily in modmail. We love the communities though and wanted to see them grow. Such a shame that one entitled CEO is willing to burn it to the ground for the sake of profit.

We do not and at this time just can’t do it again. Maybe in time that sentiment will change. I am very glad you enjoyed those subs though, we put a lot of hard work into them over the years. It’s nice every once in a while to hear appreciation rather than obscenities and arguments. :)
