  • It’s not their fault.

We’ve been cutting rich people’s taxes by destroying public education for decades.

I’m actually surprised thousands of my fellow Americans don’t drown staring upward whenever it rains.

We chose die alone aka “I’m a temporarily embarrassed, ruggedly individual millionaire” over live together aka “we live in a society.”

That has consequences we are now feeling at a new level. The Nordic nations understand this and are the happiest peoples on Earth because they get taxed massively and understand it benefits the society they live in without resentment. Their teams are their nations, their societies, not their economic class or political party.

That’s an absolutely foreign and highly contemptable position to most Americans. After all, If everyone gets their basic needs met, how can I have mooooaaaaar than everyone and shove it in their sad poorie faces while they die in the gutter? And what good is wealth without that, amirite?

A nation as wealthy as ours need not have any economic losers dying in the streets and not being fed in school. We insist upon it, because America runs on schaudenfreude.

You want to know how fucked in the head our culture is? Compare the Freedom To Roam laws much of Europe enjoys to our POS country’s castle doctrines. They value the real freedom being part of a society provides, whereas we just want an excuse to shoot each other in the face.

  • No they won’t.

When the policies Republicans vote for eat their face, and there are innumerable examples, it’s always “Why would the Demonrats do this?!”

Even the smartest of their idiotic, ignorant asses go a half step further by acknowledging that a Republican policy, or revocation of any policy thereof(deregulation), hurt them, but only because the filthy libruls tricked them into doing it by holding the opposite position on said policy, clearly making it their fault because duuuuuuuuuhhhhh.

And the defining characteristic of any conservative is to take joy/schaudenfreude in others being hurt, so no, they’ll never look at the people, the children, they’ve condemned and do anything but laugh, even when it’s other conservatives, as they eat themselves when they lack an “other” to fight. It only stops being funny when it happens to them or their immediate, nuclear family.

  • The living Earth will be fine, and has recovered from worse than us, even other runaway mutations from within that wreaked havoc, see the carboniferous period and the trees that couldn’t yet effectively decompose and release their carbon, doing the opposite of us, creating an ice age.

The Earth recovers, It just won’t recover on a timescale we can perceive.

There’s life that’s evolved to survive in acid pools, at depths we can’t touch, in crevices we can’t reach. We arrogantly fashion ourselves Gods of this world, but we couldn’t sterilize it if we wanted to.

We will be gone, sooner rather than later because of our actions, but the 3.8 billion year old living Earth will be fine with a negligible few million years of cleanup, and to paraphrase George Carlin, it will be like we never even existed at all, thank goodness for that.

  • You know what will happen if Harris wins decisively?

The SCOTUS will say Trump won anyway, just like in 2000 when they were far less emboldened. And what they say will go again.

And the feckless people will allow it yet again instead of justly rioting for having their voice silenced in the name of the profiteers our Federalist Society SCOTUS works for.

I’m voting for Harris to say I raged against the dying of the light, but this country is over, because our people are beaten dogs more concerned with preserving the continuity of their fast food and social media capitalist opiates than being a society.

  • Capitalists, duh.

Climate scientists aren’t qualified because they don’t prioritize maximizing short term private profit, any expert that matters will tell you that is the only consideration that ever ought to be considered about any topic. That’s what makes them an experts to begin with, obviously.

This is a problem that needs to be addressed by respected business leaders that understand we can’t disrupt economic growth and quarterly earnings expectations for something as abstract as humanity’s medium to long term survival.

Civilization may collapse in 20 years from catastrophic ecological collapse, but there’s like 80 quarterly earnings calls between now and then, and if it does collapse, the only people that matter won’t be rich anymore when the glorious dollar is no longer valued, so nothing will matter anymore anyway, problem solved.

  • More confirmation the world is right to see us as backwards. (US study)

So many sexual hangups. Makes sense considering we were founded by Puritans escaping to the new world to be more backwards and repressed.

Sex is a part of life. A massive part of the human condition. A part to be celebrated, not mourned or minimized. That’s how we get pedophile priests and sexual education summed up in “do not do it because it does not exist and you’re dirty for asking.” It’s not Gen Zs fault though, social media is designed to emphasize the darkest possible side of everything as it gets clicks, so sex as a concept is just a vector of potential trauma to them.

If only we had the same hangups about our violence boners our media gluts us on with abandon. Sports concussions, gory explosion movies, and our most celebrated exports tools of mass murder 😎👍. People giving one another physical pleasure 😱👎.

  • It’s a shame that the next generation of capitalist nepos are raised aware that their family hoard is fed by burning the world, and that same hoard insulates them from climate change induced mass famine\drought\etc.

The people that make the important decisions and own both of our parties don’t lose sleep over their avarice, and impress that dynastically.

We need to reign in our owner class, or no amount of begging will help. They know what they’re doing, and know they can protect and insulate themselves and theirs by convincing you to consume more than you need with propaganda and regulatory capture.

  • “crisis” is such a misnomer.

A crisis infers something that will eventually come to resolution.

Our self-inflicted climate crisis isn’t intensifying, our self-inflicted climate doom is.

For all intents and purposes, this climate doom is permanent. It will take the Earth millions of years to recover from what we’re actively doing, which is nothing to the living Earth and it’s 3.8 billion year tapestry of life, but to our Lil monkey brains might as well be treated as eternity, and absolutely will endure for many multiple times longer than humans will exist.

We struggle to keep human societies and civilization together on the tutorial paradise mode we were handed. Anyone paying attention knows how quickly we will fall back to scattered tribes, subsisting and scraping for survivial like we just crawled back out of our first cave when our only habitat is no longer the sunshine lollipop land we’re dead set on ending ASAP.

I don’t think we’ll go extinct for another few hundred years, we’ll be like cockroaches relying on and clinging to the remnant hardened structures and tech of the tutorial days to keep pockets alive, but almost no one will be thanking their lucky stars for such a life.

And if anyone thinks our salvation is somehow thriving on worlds we didn’t evolve on, where one stupid/greedy human action can very well mean “boom, literally everybody instantly dead, womp womp, try again,” when we can’t even make it work here where the air, water, and waste self-recycle automatically and all we had to do was not actively, belligerently fuck it up despite all its natural redundancies and cartoonishly massive load tolerances, then lol.

  • Let me answer your question with another question.

Will the masses literally having loved ones killed by greed induced climate change ever accept that the toxic social opiates they’re fed to remain complacent (social media, fast food, unnecessary plastic crap, literal opiates, etc) aren’t worth burning our sole, shared habitat and any future for humanity in the name of short term private profit, and both bring justice to them and accept the necessary reduced quality of life that will come with the necessary destruction of the supply chains destroying the human habitability of the planet for millions of years?

Because incremental change would have been an option… Half a century ago when we were loudly warned. Drastic action is necessary today, the kind that will make a billion including possibly you and I starve. I argue that if there is any decency in our species… At all… we should, otherwise we’re telling all potential future generations to go fuck themselves over our Postmates and Pop Figures.

  • I mean, I’d agree with you, but the humans that actually aren’t a threat to the planet, that lived in homeostasis with the Earth, barely exist anymore, the humans with flags saw to that.

For the record yes, the developed world’s quality of life should be much, much, much, lower, and the very concept of economic growth/metastasis should be a widely accepted slur at this point, as it’s killing us.

Part of not being a threat to Earth is also not building and maintaining, let alone growing a massive military industrial complex, which means being destroyed by humans that want your shit and don’t care about the future doing it, so it’s a paradox.

  • The planet does.

Fewer humans is always a win for the planet long term, the only entity we are basically united as a species in generational war against. The only entity we by actions hate more than ourselves and each other. We’re the worst biological catastrophe to evolve since the trees of the Carboniferous period that captured too much carbon before the bacteria that could decompose them had evolved, but unlike those trees that lacked agency, we do the vodoo that we do by choice.

I dislike my species a little more each day, based on our actions of said day. It’s quite cathartic in the face of such madness to remember that our mother will win that war she didn’t instigate against her ungrateful little brat mistake of evolution, and she will recover from that mistake in no time to the Earth, just a couple million years in its 3.8 billion year history of almost entirely homeostatic life. It will be as if all the world’s religions and cultures of manipulative avarice never existed at all.

Thats a happy ending. The world will have peace once more. Anyway, how bout this October heat?
