This. That was my initial reaction before checking out the community. Your description is accurate, although I kinda wish they didn’t choose that community name. Lol.
Loving your username, btw, PugJesus.

Honestly, if I didn’t need chat apps like Slack for my job I’d be pretty content with one of these. They’d still be good as secondary phones, but unless they can support chat apps (without other online apps like FB, IG, and even browsers - so good luck with that) they can’t be my only/main device.
This honestly makes a lot of sense. 🤔
One risk of the fediverse is that data is cached locally from federated servers. That could put server owners in legal jeopardy for hosting illegal content.
This 100%. And not just piracy-related stuff.
Tbh, there have been some decisions by lemmy.world admins that i didn’t really support, but this one is understandable imo.
I wonder if the lemmy devs are aware of this and what steps can be taken to protect the instance owners from stuff in other instances that can get them in trouble.
Yup same. I was with Qobuz until it started having issues (kept buffering even if there’s no problem with my connection). Apple music is buggy on Win 10 and sounded worse than Qobuz so i skipped it. I’m now on Tidal (fuck MQA still) but still looking for goodbetter music streaming services. Netflix can rot.
I was kinda curious why Raddle wasn’t your first go-to. This explains it.

You know what? I never even thought about that. I agree 100%. That’s gonna be a tall order for companies, though. I mean, different people probably have different requirements to be comfortable.
Honestly, a much much higher salary. There are lots of things I’m going to have to deal with if I were to go back to the office; namely heavy traffic, transportation expenses, added stress, clothes (I mean, I’d have to use office-appropriate clothes whereas nowadays I have to be presentable only when I have meetings), food, waking up and preparing earlier than usual (sometimes up to 3 hours earlier!) and getting home late which gives me less free time, etc.
They’re going to have to offer a really lucrative salary for me to even consider returning to the office.
I see Empress is still subtle and classy as always.
Make a guess. Lol.
Dude was forced to buy Twitter because he couldn’t stop his big mouth. Seems he hasn’t learned. Lmao.
Ann Wilson (Heart) always makes me smile when I watch her live performances.
So we printed the entire Linux kernel source code including my driver in 5-pt font
Please tell me you used comic sans.
You don’t agree with the site, so you stop using it. If enough people do that, they lose money.
Maybe someone should tell them that’s never gonna happen, then? Because a lot of them seem to think the amount of protestors are more than enough to influence reddit traffic. I’m all for boycotting reddit (i was probably here earlier than most rexxitors - this is my 4th account due to looking for a good home instance), but stopping people from protesting is just wrong. Protesting doesn’t mean just boycotting.
let Lemmy/kbin grow naturally. As long as it maintains consistent positive growth, it will be a beautiful thing in some years.
As far as the Fediverse is concerned, I agree completely.
There’s no need to spam reddit.
There may be no need, but there certainly is a reason in some people’s minds.
Permission to use this in the future for similar comments. With credit, of course. You explained it better than i ever could.
Honestly, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with what you said and I respect that. But I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree (at least for “major” events like r/place). :)
I never go to reddit anymore and only went to r/place. My reasoning is this: they will get their views whatever we do. Bots, streamers, and the sheer popularity of r/place in reddit guarantees that. A few thousand lemmings definitely won’t make a mark, anyway, so why not use that for our cause?
There are still a few people on the fence (on leaving reddit) and more people (certainly more than i exected) are still ignorant of the whole API debacle. It’s honestly rare now, but we still get someone who is trying to migrate in our discord.
Is it possible thats it’s because Discord spawned a lot of servers related to the protest? I’m currently in 4 different discords which are related to the protests one way or another (iirc i joined eaither end of May or early June) - i have never used discord this much. Or is there a different reason for the uptick?
Some people say the canvas is bigger this year. Idk if that’s true (I honestly can’t remember what happened in 2022), but if it is that’s probably their plan - make the canvas big enough so the details don’t show up (or aren’t obvious) when showing the entire thing.
If that’s not true, well, please don’t shoot me.
I’m in Asia. I can’t speak for everyone but the people I know distrust the CCP much more than the US government. Sure, the US is far from blameless, but at least over here the CCP has a much worse reputation. I guess that’s one factor.
Another is more than a few people seem to think Meta is strictly a private company while tiktok is somehow being used/controlled by the Chinese government.
