I think another huge part of a guaranteed loss is that the Tories have always been “the party of the homeowner”, yet good luck with that considering today’s interest rates on mortgages.

Which is why I wouldn’t mind if they pulled some votes away from the Tories :) Coal-mining would be a big win for those dying Northern towns these days (though admittedly due in part to the Tories), not to mention massive health and safety advancements since the 70s would make coal-mining somewhat safer these days (though I wouldn’t do it). Certainly a better idea that importing gas from Russia.

I recall Labour wanting to keep coal mines open in the 70s, strangely enough.

I’m still amazed they were permitted to make their logo an arrow pointing towards the box on the voting form.

Did you ever read the Brexit Party manifesto? I don’t see how it makes them ‘ultra-right-wing tories’. These are a few pieces from the manifesto:

This is a pretty terrifying figure! Why does the NHS keep getting worse despite the budget for the NHS being almost half of our total spending in the UK? Got to be total mismanagement by the government and the NHS trusts.

You do realise that Germany and Italy are in a literal recession right now, with negative growth rather than slowing growth? I don’t think that’s Brexit.

The constant lead for Labour is pretty impressive: Tories deserve to lose the next election for what they’ve done (or haven’t done at all).

It’s interesting how Labour has managed to separate themselves from Corbyn and make themselves seen to be electable. The Tories usually close polling gaps during a general election, but this one is pretty much a guaranteed loss for the Tories if it were held soon.

At this point, I really hope Reform UK makes some progress at the next general election. The Tories are weak on almost everything, including the economy, and Labour have no hope of being anything but the same.

I think that’s one of the annoying things about Farage (regardless of how you feel about his political views): he’s such a talented campaigner and speaker, yet he frames everything as Leave v Remain. It’s 2023, man, try to raise some other points of view.
