I’ve mentioned this before but I worked at a zoo and we provided all kinds of plants to primates that were medicinal for just this reason, they’re very clever and often treat their illnesses before the keepers even know they’re sick. Not just great apes either, capuchins and lemurs that aren’t nearly as bright do it too.

We’re up to 922 according to that link. That’s insane.

Zoos have known this for a long while, this study from London zoo went into it in 2006, and look at the sources going back into the 90’s.

It’s cool that this new study has come out, but this isn’t news really.

I used to work with a blind guy, when everyone else did sex ed at school they used to put him in a seperate room to do worksheets as they assumed he wouldn’t need it.

There’s something wrong in the research here, if she had her daughter at 14, and the daughter is 14, then how can she be 26?

I’m concerned how much the focus is on being a burden to others. If someone wants to die then fair enough, but if they die for the benefit of others that isn’t a free choice.

This student seems both cocky and clueless in equal measures. Fingerprints are not one of a kind, it’s a very useful method as they rarely repeat exactly but they do so are not used in isolation but rather as part of a case.

I’m not sure why he’s going on about different fingers on the same person being similar but not the same, that’s known and kind of irrelevant, you can’t convict someone with “your fingerprints are kind of similar to this one” without further convincing evidence.

I used to teach ESOL students and this is quite common. Very accomplished students who had often come over for some quite skilled jobs, but hadn’t used a mouse before. It’s hard to remember how odd it is as a control system when you’ve used them from childhood.

Often they’d used phones or tablets though so they’d all be touching the screens.

It’s tricky. So I was listening to a BSE radio doc recently which had an episode about the deer. They actually don’t know if BSE was transmitted through eating the beef, in fact there’s cases of vegetarians getting it. It’s still being studied. They’re very worried about people eating infected deer, which is quite likely being as they’re easy to kill, but also having anything to do with them because they just don’t know how it moves from animal to animal, deers rarely eat each other so it’s not super likely that’s the only way.

The deer disease is the same family as BSE which does jump to humans, so it’s fairly likely.

I mean, the answer is loads. There was a hospital where they had to move all patients away from the outer rooms because the Israeli army were using snipers to pick off staff who came to attend to them. Uniformed doctors who were engaged in treating their patients were shot with no warning.

I’m also old and have been following this conflict for decades but apparently more balanced sources.

Israel claimed that they were targeting Hamas at Al-Shifa but they positioned snipers who shot doctors and nurses through the windows. If you’re being forced to attack a hospital full of innocent civilians then you would be trying to avoid the innocent civilians, but that’s not what it’s about here.

Same as taking swathes of land since WW2, they are occupying massive areas that they were never given. They’re not ignorant, they know exactly what they’re doing.

You are being drawn in by Israeli propaganda. Look at more balanced news sources, or just a wider range. The ‘human shield’ myth is particularly awful as it’s being used to defend murdering innocent people.
