I know somebody who does this and accidentally racked up a £3,500 phone bill while on holiday. He was accidentally using the wrong SIM for data.

I have two phones. A personal one and one provided by my company. I like being able to turn off my work phone when on holiday, etc and keep my personal life separate.

I do know a lot of people who sold their personal phones when given a work phone and use it for both. Saves some money I guess but no thanks.

I also know people who have two phones but install all the work apps on their personal phones to make it easier for them. No thanks!

My wife is Asian and we live in the UK. Quite often when we meet people who instead of simply asking “what sort of job do you do” they ask things like “Do you work in the NHS”, “Are you a nurse”, “Do you work in a care home”.

Some random person outside a shop asked me how much my Asian bride costs.

My wife and son were getting off a bus and somebody asked her how much would she sell her son for.

Probably a bunch more but that’s all that comes to mind atm.

And at the end you get a list of statistics. Slept X days, X hours on the toilet, could have reached level 60 if only you went for job B. Spent X hours masterbating. Killed 2 people without you or anybody else even realising. Used X KG of plastic.

Ha yes my thinking too. I posted a reply further up about a movie idea, a bit like the matrix combined with total recall. Not much action though, just mind bending thoughts about what is reality once you’ve exited the simulation. Second guessing everything. More of a depressing firm perhaps.

I had a thought for a movie a while back. Perhaps it exists already. Sort of like the matrix and total recall combined. The movie starts with somebody on their deathbed after an accident or something (not really relevant what), family nearby. Emotional scene. Person slips away with eyes closed, then opens them but somewhere else. Zooms out to see they’re in a machine like a CT scanner. They’ve just lived an experience in the simulation. They then have to spend time coming to grips with what reality is for them. Is it still part of the simulation? Does it matter? What about their loved ones, does any of that even matter now? Were the loved ones other people in the simulation or some sort of programme. Life was easier in the simulation not ever wondering if it was a simulation.

Similar to what they’re doing in Africa with rare earth mining. Control the mining and/or the trade of mined rare earths.

This is exactly the movie which caused me damage too. I would be trying to sleep and this movie would keep going through my head. Every small sound became a big deal. I think it was the idea of something happening to me while I slept and I wouldn’t even know until I was taken.

Years before this me and my cousins would somehow get rentals of movies like poltergeist, pet cemetery, nightmare on elm street, etc. Out of all of them it was fire in the sky which got to me.

Thank you. I missed that part.

Add to this the increase of electric cars.

I had a Xonar about 15 years ago. Can’t remember the model. Its surround sound has a delay on the rear speakers, made playing games in 5.1 impossible, horrible reverb effect. The official drivers didn’t fix it, I had to get a non-official driver pack to fix the issue.

I’m not really an audiophile but switching to an external usb amp dac was a good decision.

I remember my mum telling me it was sleeping when I asked if it was dead. I doubted it and it led to discussions with my sisters and cousins. We would all look at the tin at my grandma’s house. Happy, simple times

NHS. Despite people complaining about it and funding problems it is still amazing. My sister in-law is in Asia and has cancer. Even with health insurance from her job it’s still insanely expensive. She basically can’t afford treatment. Getting sick is bad enough but imagine that with the worry of money.

I work for a a UK food manufacturer which did export 40% to the EU. The added costs of getting food over to EU resulted in the sales teams having to renegotiate the selling prices to EU customers. Most basically said no. Why should they pay a higher price when they can source the same type of product within the EU at a lower price. The big EU buyers stopped trading with us.

When politicians say businesses need to adapt I really have no idea what they have in mind when they say that. We are not in a position to demand customers pay more. And most businesses aren’t in a position to swallow additional costs. The only reason our business didn’t sink is because it’s part of a much larger group so was able to flatten out the financial impact by borrowing internally.

I’m starting to think “adapt” means tough shit.

Makes me wonder what else there is which hasn’t been discovered and reported.
