  • A guy on my team was absolutely convinced the external monitors he had were 1080p and not 1680*1050 resolution, and that everyone else using 1680*1050 were just wrong. He got into an argument with IT service desk over HDMI cables, which he wanted to prove himself correct (since everyone else were supposedly chumps for accepting the tyranny of having to use DVI cables for their monitors, thus forcing them to use the lower resolution). The argument escalated and well, he kind of just disappeared after that and never came back.

The IT service desk folks were already touchy about their HDMI cables since people were apparently stealing them for use in the meeting rooms.

Pity, I liked him but that was kind of unhinged. Besides, the monitors’ native res was definitely 1680*1050 lol.

  • He puts himself to bed! There’s a blanket on the lounge - he wraps himself up in it, and goes to sleep, for hours. If I can’t find him, I look for the breathing lump inside the lounge blanket. I used to think the depictions of Garfield wrapped in a blanket in his bed were just, well, comic book stuff, but no, some cats do this lol.

He also knocks on the door when he needs his toilet changed (we use litter tray liners), to let me know to do it. Yes milord. Work work.

Another one - he’s bad at climbing and has realised when he wants to get up somewhere high (to watch the world from above), he doesn’t actually have to climb up himself. He can just squeal and whimper if I’m in the room and I’ll lift him up there. Hahaha cute lazy bugger.

  • It’s been drop dead easy for me too in the past few years. Almost all of my gaming is through Steam and the Proton mode is like, a few extra clicks. It’s gotten to the point that I don’t even need to consult ProtonDB for runtime options now.

For old games there’s Lutris and its install scripts are a fuckton easier than trying to manually wrangle shit together (no matter what OS you’re on) which is even better

In fact, my completely non technical (and, notably, non programmer) friend noticed what my experience is like and as a result decided to dual boot on his new gaming rig. Mind blown. I didn’t even do any evangelising or shilling, I guess the best evangelism is just practicing what you (would) preach

I think dual GPU situations like laptops are sometimes a bit of a pain in the ass though from what I read.

I’m using a GTX 1080 Ti and nvidia’s legendary fuckery hasn’t impacted me
