Progressive Politics@lemmy.world•2008 Hillary Clinton Says As President She Would Attack Iran At any state of Building nuclear weapons
14·2 months agoI don’t get it… she said she would retaliate against Iran, if Iran attacked Israel with a nuclear weapon. This is inline with any nation that has nuclear weapons, mainly for deterrence, since the start of the Cold War. Do I like it? No… But it’s the reality of nuclear weapons existing. The same would happen if Russia attacked any other US ally… And the same would happen if the US attacked any Russia ally. This is why, ultimately, someone will fuck up, and start a chain of events that may lead to Human’s extinction. Because any nation that uses nuclear weapons has a very high chance of getting hit by one, immediately after! This applies to Murica, to Russia, to Israel, Iran, Pakistan, France, or any other nation that has nuclear weapons, and regardless to who is in power.
I honestly don’t understand what is the value of this “gotcha” sort of post. Is the OP not aware of how nuclear weapons are used for deterrence purposes? I can assure you, this would happen with whichever POTUS would be in power, even if (and specially if) it was Bernie! Are people forgetting how emotionally tied Bernie is to Israel, and that only after much push back, was he wiling to denounce Israel, when some other of his colleagues in the Senate had already done?
Hillary has said far more dumb shit recently, like for example, accusing younger folks of being radicalized against Israel by Tik Tok, simply because they are pro-Palestinian, with complete disregard to uncontestable historical facts. I see no value in this post.
With any luck, the prototype will explode before launch!

I find it too creepy… can’t stand looking at it. It’s like the love child of Chucky and M3GAN, turned into a cheap inflatable sex doll. It’s nightmare fuel, if you ask me!

Games@lemmy.world•European Commission preparing token gesture for angry gamers and game developersEnglish
1·11 months agoI’m not sure if this is sarcasm or not… You are aware that, the EU has been famously known for applying huge penalty fines to big tech companies, including Google and Apple, and that even Valve, was targeted for an antitrust lawsuit, that lost?
Are you also aware that the EU forced Apple to standardized their power cables to use USB-C only, which caused Apple to lose a fair amount of money, because now they will profit less from selling licenses to cable manufacturers. The license costs $99, which is really nothing special but for each connector, the cable manufacturer has to pay Apple $4. This is a huge business for Apple, and that the EU completely shot down.
The decreased cable lifespan prompted people to buy new cables more often, generating more profit for Apple. Additionally, Apple earned money by licensing third-party manufacturers who wanted to sell cables under the “Made for iPhones” (MFi) program. The commission and licensing fees constituted a significant portion of Apple’s cable-related revenue, totalling a substantial 10 billion dollars
Did you knew that in the EU, the minimum warranty for any electronic device, is at least 3 years, which can be even higher depending on each member state own laws? From your perspective, this alone, might represent a 200% decrease in revenue, when compared to countries that only provide a 1 year warranty. How is this being pro corporations?
I will say this in the most respectfully way I can, but you’re full of shit.
LET THEM EAT CAKE!

Well, there was a trend among anti-vaxxers to eat dirt and drink piss. So I guess that’s covered!

European Politics@feddit.org•In a letter to EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, US President Donald Trump called the EU “your Country”.
2·11 months agoWell, my parents always told me to not contradict crazy people, so I will respectfully leave this conversation. My thoughts and prayers to you!

She only released a message later on, after the huge backlash she received, for the interview she gave. She stated she would not endorse any party but would vote for Harris. I don’t have any issue if she is not endorsing anyone, she has no obligation to. But considering she’s a role model and an idol for many in the LGBTQ+ community and specially trans folks, I found her “both sides” comment idiotically stupid and cognitively dissonant. That’s what pissed me off. Now, LGBTQ+ folks, are seeing the result of that “bothsidism”.
Also why I kinda disconnected myself from US politics… I look at memes, laugh and that’s it! I no longer have the mental bandwidth to have discussions with people that think that defending such comments are in any way conductive to progress their own rights.

European Politics@feddit.org•In a letter to EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, US President Donald Trump called the EU “your Country”.
2·11 months agoThe fact of you being oblivious that many EU state members populations feel that there are more differences than communalities with other member states, and that such a decision would require a large majority of the popular vote, in all the countries involved, to be achieved.
Even for a nation to join the EU, referendums are done for that purpose alone, much less to transform the EU into a Federation, and specially considering the current political climate, and the rise of far-right sentiment all around the world.
We are more likely to see WW3 start, than seeing a federated EU, and odds are, with a WW3, humans will no longer have the need for any federation of any sort. Maybe cockroaches will!
Yes I agree with you… Can’t tell you how much I have argued with my fellow members in the LGBTQ+ community over the dumbass comments Chapell Roan or whatever is her name made just prior to the election. I think there are certainly reasons to why democrats should be criticized, but the “bothsidism” is just a false equivalence.

I would say that everything that is created by Humans, is political, in some way or another. Anyone that says “I’m apolitical”, is paradoxically, taking a political position.
