News@lemmy.world•Ben Jones, ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ Actor and Congressman, Dies at 84

Political Memes@lemmy.world•Just like the first term, just outright lies
4·4 hours agoWhy wall when you got ICE now? Its way more cruel and inhumane and makes lots more money for certain people at the top.
You forgot the middle step. When parents discover it and ruin it, then its companies trying to profit off of it.
It was the first one. It was first released in oct 2016 and i remember i just got the samsung note 7 and that was the craziest phone event I’ve ever seen since it wa an entire recall of that model. Because of that i waited the month till it dropped and ended up getting it swapped for the pixel. It was new and thought it would be better than the galaxy.

memes@lemmy.world•Number on or number off which one do you prefer??
134·2 days agoI remember when I switched from a Samsung phone to one of the first pixel phones years ago and being so angry that it did not have an option to add the number. I think the only way back then ended up being in the developer options. That phone somehow just ended up getting into a boot loop only like 4 months after getting it and they didnt respect the warranty. It was provided by work so I didnt care that much since no real loss to me, but ill never forget that impression it left on me and ill never get another pixel or google phone ever again.

10·2 days agoDon’t forget the psychological effect that it has on people that makes most people take less time off. Also the company can benefit from it by no longer having to agree to accrued time which means if the setup had people bankng time they would be paid out on it when they retire, leave, or get fired. This allows them to save all that money each person had been saving. If the company is willing to set things up like this you should always be asking how do they benefit from this change.
It’s crazy to think the majority or people working are all to young to know that at one time companies actually did try to come up with real incentives to keep its employees happy.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Arizona teas at $1.59… we used to be a proper country.English
11·2 days agoAlmost all stores near me are selling them for this same deal. Quickcheck is the one that comes to mind. The funny thing that I found is that the food stores have had almost never ending sales for the cans now marking them at .66 cents a can now. It’s now the only place I will buy them. From my understanding Arizona wants the price to be .99 cents but my theory is since stores are now selling them for higher prices they somehow made deals with grocery stores to sell for less so that it evens out or the hope that people do what i do and just buy them for the cheaper price leaving the higher priced ones to sell less.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•The size decrease of fast-food over the last 5 years.English
1·3 days agoI absolutely hated popeyes until the chicken sandwich released. If i go its the only thing i enjoy getting and is crazy how good it ended up being when everything else was meh. I do agree popeyes is mid tier at best because having 1 good item doesnt mean the place is now great, unless your raising canes lol.

1·3 days agoI don’t get the lines either, but I do think I enjoy it more than you do. Ill have it maybe a few times a year and im always satisfied with what i get, but the price is rough. I enjoy the grilled chicken sandwich with pepperjack and bacon. I will then throw a bunch of the chick fil a sauce on top since your right it is very plain. I almost wonder if they leave it plain just so you can do this yourself. Its a decent sandwich with all of that. We just got our first raising canes by us and i agree the chicken is way better, but i cant do the sandwich just the strips since its literally the same thing with less chicken for a little more money.
Never heard of chicken express before. I had steak and shake like 20 years ago when i was in the south and remember it being good as well. Wish i had that as an option.
I do think the popeyes chicken sandwich is still really good for a fast food sandwich. Its huge, tender, and the mayo somehow adds a lot of flavor. They also have deals sometimes which helps. Shake shack chicken sandwich was by far my favorite, but its so small its kind of insulting for the price asked. Its got some dill mayo spread on it thats really good, i wont even order the burger from them anymore. Again it seems like i go a lot but this is only my experience over the years lol, i get one maybe once every 3 to 4 months from some place.
Exactly how little are we talking?
I dont regret them all, but after a few days of going to bed way later than I should I start to or ill just end up passing out early one night because it catches up to me. If I don’t stay up late I got no time to myself…

2·4 days agoI tried the open beta and I didn’t even play it once. It took like 20 minutes to get through the tutorial, which was crazy intensive, and by the end I just had no interest in continuing that night. Sadly I didnt try to play it again. It seemed cool, just way more complex than i expected it to be.

PC Master Race@lemmy.world•x GIGABYTE Hikes GPU Prices By Up To 40%English
3·4 days agoWhats the gameplan here for the future? Im guessing a lot of these companies are going to have to close down when they can’t sell their stock anymore? I would have to imagine most people can no longer afford this or will hopefully choose not to because it was already crazy high. I got a good 5 years before i may need something new and I really hope something collapses and things are forced to go back to what they were.
I honestly struggle with this. Don’t forget, property taxes always go up. Since ive been in my house they have increased about 1.5k in 10 years or 12%. I know I can’t live here forever just because of the exponential growth over 10 years and theres no way i can survive this another 10 or 20 years. I also wonder who can even afford this at these prices? I know a lot of states do it differently, but my state is the highest property tax rate in the country. I see some states that are like 1k for the year and my mouth drops as i pay almost 150% more.
Hey hey hey… you forgot pizza.

Uplifting News@lemmy.world•Flock cameras across Minnesota are being vandalized in response to data privacy concernsEnglish
46·4 days agoI love the cops defense going on about how much they help. Like sure there are times they help, but at what cost? And why is there a cost to begin with!? Like come back to us when you strip the middleman out of it who profits off our data which is crazy that that even exists or allowed. Go with a company that does not have access to any data and the only way any of the existing data can be accessed is through proper procedure only and if active cameras have to be looked at then a judge needs to sign off on it first with a limited time of say 4 hours. These should never be monitored by random cops whenever they feel and outside companies should have zero access to anything outside support to fix and setup the devices.
If a medical professional can’t even look at medical data for a patient without proper authorization why is this treated any different? Do better and maybe we won’t be so angry, but until then stop trying to claim the ends justify the means.

2·5 days agoI was going to get this years release, until I couldn’t afford it. Still trecking along with my 4 year old phone which will be 5 next year if it makes it. The battery is on its way out, the touch screen feels like it has some dead areas, and the screen died for a few day earlier this year before coming back randomly. I was looking forward to this release and now I kind of lost interest. Guess ill see what it looks like the closer it gets.

Thats correct. I am in charge of this for our company and basically an option off the main menu that is recorded will give this message before fully transferring to that queue. This allows the reps to not have to say it every single time they talk to someone, which could also mean they forget to. For the extensuons the message plays before they are allowed to speak once someone picks up.
