Can prisoners deny work placements? Like do they get any say in this? I’m guessing there would be some sort of retaliation which is why they accept them, that or there’s a promise of a shorter sentance or something.

That cat has a 1000 yard stare, it’s been through some shit. I wonder if it’ll keep doing the cat thing or if it’ll be scared of boxes from now on.
Reaminds me of this legendary Aussie. https://youtu.be/SoZ41i2dSIw?si=Er-JrpdsBLnMD5hH
At this point I feel it’s too late. Unless they purchase a large fleet of aircraft and rotate through randomly, it would be fairly trivial to find what jets happened to be flying to the airport closest to Taylor Swift and make a solid assumption on which one is hers after a few flights.
The problem is more to do with ADSB I think. If I remember correctly, all aircraft in the US must have an ADSB transponder now. That info is broadcast for traffic awareness but also contains a ton of other info like speed, altitude, and most importantly the tail number. That signal can be picked up by anyone within range using very simple radio equipment, sites like ADSB Exhange do this and populate a map. So right now unless they want to rework the entire ADSB system, as long as you know the tail number, you can track anyone’s aircraft live. Delaying this data would make the traffic avoidance impossible.
Alberta within the last few months switched from a private company doing lab testing back to the old provincial run system, wait times for appointments went from over a month to a few days for me. And that celebrating was cut short by the fact they want to split up AHS now which is more likely going to screw up a bunch of our healthcare again.
This happens far too often. Usually on a smaller scale that doesn’t get much media attention but oil and gas companies here seem to almost plan to eventually go bankrupt, abadon the wells and pipelines, and now it’s somebody elses problem to fix while they run off with a slap on the wrist compared to what they earned. There are over 80,000 abandoned wells and another 80,000 inactive (so likely to be abandoned eventually) in Alberta alone. The good news is they make oil & gas companies pay for the cleanup funding yearly but it’s not enough if you ask me.
I had 2 great finds so far:
1: A David Clark noise cancelling aviation headset. It was used and a bit old but still worked perfectly. I was a student pilot at the time and was using the cheap headsets the school had so this was an awesome find. I think whoever put the pricing on it saw the weird plugs without knowing what it was and priced it at $5. I remember seeing them on ebay used for around $600.
2: A old network drive full of pirated content and porn from the early 2000’s. I don’t know what the fuck teenage me was thinking hooking this up to my PC without any idea what was on it but it ended up being a hilarious find. I think it was shared between a bunch of roommates as each folder was named after someone. It was an IDE drive so I made a backup (for reasons), wiped it, and now use it in a PS2. Think that was around $5 also.
Stay away from weed and you’ll get to live your dream.
Forrest fire aid is a great example of global cooperation. Australia is in their winter currently and has sent a bunch of firefighters to Canada to help out, and when its winter in Canada and our fires have slowed down, we’ll do the same to help them. Also I don’t think that aircraft was run / operated by Canadians, just made by, Canadair is a maunufacturer.
Worse than that, we had a guy essentially miss the toilet while taking a shit in our work washroom. It was this larger construction worker and he must have sat down wrong somehow and shit went everywhere on and under the toilet seat. Guess who didn’t try cleaning up and left without saying a word? Fuck that was nasty…
Yeah, I like having cameras but don’t want that video being sent elsewhere. I ended up getting Tapo cams which are cheap cloud cameras but they also have RTSP streams and local username / password settings. That means I can send the footage to a locally hosted NVR and lock the cameras behind a parental option in my router that blocks all external in and out communication to them.
I tried it once years ago and couldn’t get into it, found it kept guessing everything wrong or I was using it wrong, not sure. But just recently I got a smartwatch and heard many people recommending it and on such a small screen, it’s incredibly good at what it does. I may try it again on my phone soon as I’m starting to like it.
I had a Mastodon account but didn’t really understand how it all worked, I thought it was only for Twitter like applications. I really like the concepts of self hosting stuff so when the Reddit strike happened and I found out what Lemmy was, I decided to try it out and have been learning along the way.
What? Where does it say at all in the article that these woman were racist to the guys before being attacked?
