Furthermore, their big ol pipeline was canned by their best buds down south.

Noved@lemmy.cato Canada@lemmy.ca•Dont Ever Listen To Those Who Claim "Voting is Pointless"61·2 months agoRight, but this is a Canadian community about the recent Canadian election. The voting system is assumed.
In my riding, if you only had the option of liberal or conservative and a 100% turnout we would still have elected the same blue brick for the 4th time.
Usually this just means I get to vote for whatever party I like the platform enough of/like the leader.

My therapist says I’m likely ADHD and I align with a lot in this thread, but this description is about 1000% more dramatic than my day to day life. I guess it’s all a spectrum, but I’ve never felt like I’m living in a fog, I’m very very aware of all of the things I’m fucking up, but my mind doesn’t tell my body it’s worth fixing yet.
I never “forget” to finish a task, I remember that task needs to get done every 5 mins after I leave it not finished and it pains me to look at it every time I walk by it. But there are more important things to do. Like scrolling Lemmy or IG.

Noved@lemmy.cato Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•It's 2025 now, what are the games you'll be starting the year with?3·6 months agoStarted my year off with a new computer and a portal speed run! Sub 27 mins with no quick saving was a solid start to the year.
Actually, playing portal on max graphics and getting 60fps was the real solid start 😅
Noved@lemmy.cato Linux@lemmy.ml•Valve's plan to bring SteamOS to more devices is a promising sign if you want to stop gaming on Windows141·7 months agoNew to the Linux community here; why is a valve owned Linux OS better than any other massive company OS. Like if Microsoft released their own Linux OS, would it be good suddenly?
At the end of the day, we don’t want our OS’s big company owned right?
And then they will blame it on Trudeau and they will believe it.
Noved@lemmy.cato Canada@lemmy.ca•Poilievre calls two-month GST break inflationary, says Tories will vote against it24·7 months agoCons : we want lower taxes.
Libs: ok tax break?
Cons: not like that! 😡
Federal not provincial.
Obviously this is a vote bribe, just looking at the wording of the press release it’s written for Christian conservatives.
Specifically making Christmas trees part of the tax break?
As someone who is voting left already, I’m just happy to get the tax break. But if this is the thing that causes enough cons to not vote PP, I’ll take the budget cuts.
Under the libs at least we might see things like healthcare and affordable housing.

Noved@lemmy.cato Canada@lemmy.ca•Gig workers gain rights in B.C. — and momentum across Canada2·10 months agoI’ve never understood how we haven’t been considered employees as gig workers.
The only difference from a typical job is that you can “turn off” your job when it’s convenient.
You dont get say in the jobs you take, or you don’t get all the information to mislead you into taking poor jobs. Sometimes both (looking at you door dash)
Instacart sends you a t4a at the end of the year, and you are for tax purposes considered to have worked for them. But they don’t have to pay into any of our various employee protections because loopholes?
They can terminate your “not employment” at any time for any reason and use this as a method to force you to do things you don’t want to.
All while paying you less than minimum wage. Instacart specifically is very bad for this. They give you a "predicted shop time " which will often be in the realm of 30-40 mins + 10-20 travel time to and from the store. And the batch will be valued at less then $15m
If then acknowledge that the job will take X amount of time, the base pay needs to hit $15/h x est time.
Same goes for all gig jobs.
Simply put, I need to buy groceries.
It’s not that I will have issues learning or researching, it is that I don’t have the time too.
If the barrier to using Linux is needing to spend time troubleshooting and researching to do simple tasks, I just won’t.
So far this thread has been very enlightening to me, I’m excited to try something new. But my OS is not my hobby.
If this is to be believed, does it make an employee a “Krispy Kreme Krew?”
