I’ve used vote411.org in the past and it’s done a decent enough job for me to double check local candidates and their policies ideas prior to elections. I’m willing to try others though. Any thoughts on vote411?

I just signed an offer for a 8am-4pm job, so I guess they do but it’s been a long while since I’ve had a job with those hours.
I assume I will forget to make myself a cakeday meme like I did every year I was on Reddit. Seems appropriate as a celebration.
Well, I can’t take them with me…
Ummm it’s hard to do without giving up a wonderful 9-book, 7 or 8 novella plot, but I’ll do my best. It’s ultimately a space opera, but the ideas explored are well thought out and intriguing. I don’t think it really gets as deep into what you’re looking for as you’d like but it’s still a wonderful book series.
Future humans, in our solar system, lots of political intrigue between the powers of the UN (all of earth), the Martian Congressional Republic, and the Outer Planets Alliance (people of the asteroid belt, less of a govt, more of a political movement). Someone finds what might be alien life or alien technology (possibly sitting for a billion years in outlets solar system), and the rest is what happens to humans in the wake of that.
The tech itself gets into possible collective consciousness, planet-sized carbon crystal data storage and quantum entanglement. Along with things like worm hole technology and heavily bending (but not really breaking) the laws of physics.
It’s all written with VERY sound scientific thought behind every little nuance of the story and all the tech involved.
It’s not the hardest of sci-fi and ultimately there’s isn’t a ton in the narrative specifically about this, but there’s some really interesting stuff in The Expanse series (book, not show) that touches on this kind of thing.
I’m not so sure. When I look at that menu, I only see the options for a Focus.
Upon another check, yes. If you go to that menu, and press the selected Focus, it turns off. I guess I never tried that.
I’ve kinda dealt with this before. I also find it crazy you can’t just turn Focus off with a switch. What I learned was that embracing Focus helped me.
Go into the Focus settings. Turn off Share and Focus Status. Then just add yourself a preset with no people or apps silenced (unless you want some), turn smart activation off (or don’t if you want to use it), and you can now set that Focus.
You can take this a few steps further. For example I have 3 settings. One for a loud phone that I don’t miss calls or notifications on, a quiet phone for when I don’t need the alerts to be so loud, and a sleep mode where the only notifications I get are calls from family. I made shortcut buttons (the Shortcuts App is kinda powerful) for each mode using a widget on my home screen, and now I can switch to any one I want whenever. You can also long hold your lock screen, and edit your Wallpaper (background appearance and widgets on the lock screen). This setting can be linked to each Focus mode you’ve made. So you can easily link your phone’s appearance to a mode so you know when they’ve changed.
The premise is really cool which is what interested me enough to read the first book (Startide Rising) which I enjoyed.
Future human race is entering a galactic civilization, where all the space-faring species were “uplifted” by a previous space-faring race. Uplifting essentially means educating, breeding, and enhancing species to the point of our intelligence. Humans in this universe have done this to dolphins and great apes. The other alien species in the series looks down on humans as no one knows who or even if humans were uplifted. The main characters in Startide Rising were humans, dolphins and one chimpanzee, all on a spaceship crashed on an alien world.
I would suggest at least giving the series a shot.
Why this list was ever sealed to begin with is beyond me.
It does, but I’ve seen these and they are nice but not what I’m looking for. Thanks either way!
Yeah that’s the thing, search results seem to end up just melting into every key cap ever after a couple of pages. I get that’s the nature of searching for something I want to purchase but hot damn is it annoying.
not even close to the limit on my desktop. let’s keep it going
Got my first two Hydroflasks (32oz and 20oz) in 2014 I would guess? Still have both and use one of them every day.
Oh my god I get sealioned in real life. Now I can call people out on it with a title.
Honestly, I dislike both songs. However watching Hell In A Cell on tv with my boys is a memory I will cherish.
shhhh, no one knows that here ;)
There’s a bunch of communities on waveform.social but as of now I don’t see much in my main feed from them. I’m not sure if it’s just a matter of the niche community taking time to develop or if there’s a better place as of yet. I haven’t done much searching for it in a couple of weeks. I really hope these communities start to flourish here. Have been doing my best to engage what I do see to help grow.
If you’re into music production and song writing there’s a great twitch streamer called Plus 6 Productions. Informative, entertaining, very engaging with chat and the viewers are fun too.
Like others in here, I find myself listening to whole records. Sometimes I’ll listen to a couple by an artist in a row.
I feel like I don’t listen to enough music. I try to sit down and actively listen to things when I can, but mostly I’ll get a record or two in while doing something mindless like dishes or yard work. Nothing gets overplayed this way.
