If you like Ubuntu I can only recommend Debian with KDE desktop (don’t install the default gnome DE).
I just switched recently and it’s a very clean feeling. No snap and no nonsens. Just stable and trustworthy.

In my naive mind the steam deck is a huge motivating factor for developers to go directly to native Linux games. In reality it’s probably given only little a consideration.
How long before the majority of game development is defaulting to Linux/Unix instead of windows? Getting native Linux games to run on windows is only becoming easier and easier with WSL? To me it seems like less of a hastle than trying to go the other way like we do today with proton and wine. Can someone enlighten me?
I had an old laptop do this some years ago and it was because the graphics card was broken. I had dual graphic card and found a way to disable the broken one in bios (dedicated one, could continue on intel graphics) but the computer was too old to reliably use much longer and it died even more a few months later.
Combine with git and you now have a good way of keeping track of changes as well of you have to collaborate with others.
I found out that for me its often worth it to pay the extra for tickets that can be changed easily. It gives peace of mind and less stress because I know I can just jump right in and change them if I want. It goes not just for plane tickets but for many othe products as well. But it obviously only works if I remember to buy the ticket in the first place. That might require multiple calendar reminders and alarms on my phone.
The MX ergo has a normal scroll wheel and back/forward buttons like a normal mouse. The scroll wheel is responsive and present to use. Not free rolling like some other Logitech mice but I don’t like that feature too much anyway. It has normal small bumps for each unit of scroll.
I had the same initial feeling about it when i got handed the mouse randomly one day. I was like uhg I don’t really want to relearn how to mouse, but I’ll give it a go because why not. I was struggling a bit at first, but I was surprised at how easy i caught on to it. Within and hour I didn’t think much about how to use it anymore and within a week I didnt eaven reach for my normal mouse next to it anymore because it was just more comfortable to use the ball mouse. My girlfriend was the same when she borrowed or one day to play some Sims from the couch. It’s especially good for that because you don’t need any surface for it to work. It works anywhere. She just started using it with no training and now keeps asking for borrowing it. I can only recommend it. The Logitech is the best options tho. I’m not sure about the quality of other brands.
It’s not for everyone but a Logitech MX ergo is a rock solid choice (ball mouse) since you don’t move the mouse around it doesn’t get nearly as abused and woren down. I have one I’ve used for 3 years now and it was second hand when I got it so god knows how old it is and it still looks in perfect condition.
I can recommend as well. It is maybe not the most beginner friendly OS since it works quite differently than most other OS’s unless installed in a curtain way. Iirc. The installer is quite helpful in getting it set up correctly.
I’m surprised noone have mentioned Lubuntu yet. It’s a debloated and light weight version of Ubuntu and can run on very old hardware. I’ve used it in the past before on shitty hardware with great success
How is the report generated andwhere is the data sourced from? I often have huge issues with weather reports being very wrong or not up to date fast enough to be useful so I end up just using the national report but their app is terrible.
Dvorak doesn’t really make sense for phones anyway. There’s zero benefits. Maybe even negatively since qwerty spreads out the most common keys it’s easier for autocorrect to guess what you are actually trying to hit. I have no scientific data on it tho. Just a feeling.
Thank you! It’s so much more comfortable to typ on. Not faster, but Comfortable. I hate the awkward and annoying questions from colleges tho: wHY iS yOuR nOt woRkinG NoRmAllY?
And the mess that ctrl-c ctrl-v becomes is also super annoying. Mostly on windows its annoying. Linux is a bit more consistent.
I think my most unusual step os to select dvoark keyboard layout. Otherwise I’m pretty vanilla.
I usually put it back into the molden Earth core to melt it at its origin temperatures. Just like mother nature intended it.
Great question. The garden is facing directly south so gets lots of sun (northern hemisphere) the only shade comes from the hedge
Great ideas. I’d assume there to be sand under the tiles. Probably good for wild flowers that thrive on poor soil.
Greta thank you for mentioning that community. I do actually also get a roof trace of similar size (bit smaller) on the house that I still don’t know what to do with so I’ll go ask there probably
I got diagnosed last Christmas and started treatment as part of the diagnosis and the changes the medicine did to me are night and day. I started on 20mg Ritalin Uno (methylphenidate modified release). Now I’m on 20mg morning +10mg afternoon.
I still fidget with things constantly about just as much as before but as an engineer this is also how I see the world and do my job the best so I’m happy in a way that it didn’t stop completely. The biggest change for me is all the noise in my head have been tuned down so much that I can actually think straight and focus on stuff. Before I felt like a constant blast of 10 radios playing at the same time in my mind all with different topics, tones, music, conversations, anxiety, traumas, hobbies, work etc. Now it’s almost gone and I can see and hear clearly what I actually feel and tune into just one at a time. My general mood and mental health has improved significantly since I’m more calm and confident and can take much better decisions and act upon them. I feel like i improved 5 fold on my work and still have a little energy and mental capacity left for myself when i come home.
The best thing is that I now have better abilities to protect, understand and accept myself and my own behaviour. I now have the ability to actually take actions to improve. As an example I used to get stuck on YouTube shots for hours and hours but actually took the action the other day to protect myself and it is now blocked on my phone so I simply just can’t go there anymore. I also stopped many other small dumb routines and finding a way to get out of them and stay focused on what I actually want to be doing.
Remaining symptoms is probably hyper focusing (like writing this post way too long compared to what it needs to be) but I’m better at steering the focus now. It’s also stil completely Impossible for me to remember names, dates and future plans unless written down and checked multiple times. Also still going to bed waaay to late because brain is racing in the evening sometimes if the medicine wears off early. Depression is also still lurking around in the background, threatening to show itself but I’m getting better and better everyday as I’m slowly finding my new self.
Eddit. Forgot to mention that I also tried concerta 36mg but it absolutely did not work for me even though its supposed to be tye same. I got drowsy, had sleep issues with insomnia. Felt dizzy at random times during the day making it dangerous to drive. Got extremely tired when I got home and fell asleep on the couch because of dopamine crash just to be absolutely unable to sleep at night regardles of what I did. Ritalin is releasing much more precise for me and doesn’t linger around for too long to cause sleep issues. I sleep sooo much better than i have ever done when I’m on Ritalin.
