Unelected and unaccountable - a perfect combination for the head of state.

There’s already evidence in the UK that a progressive approach works, but it has been forgotten about. Middlesbrough police trialled a scheme where they provided heroin users with their fix. All of a sudden, the users stopped committing offences to raise money for their habit, which in turn deprived dealers of a lucrative source of income.
“Today we are sending a clear signal to young people that there are consequences for misusing drugs. Both users and dealers will face the full force of the law for their actions,”
Criminalising the users has worked so well with other drugs, hasn’t it? The war on drugs will be won any second now…
“In my day, I was able to buy a house for twelve pence by asking the boss for a raise. Why can’t you do that today?”
I know Buddhism teaches that life is suffering, but I’m pretty sure the idea is to reduce suffering, not spread it.
Amazing beards, too.

In response to a request for comment, Amazon UK Country Manager John Boumphrey said the company offered competitive wages and benefits.
‘Competitive wages’ translates to ‘shite to mediocre.’ Maybe they should force him to work in a warehouse for a year and see how he feels after that.
And he would have a heart attack upon learning that stocks and money will become worthless.
What is ‘the north?’
Sounds like a terrible case of Main Character Syndrome. People don’t survive an apocalypse just because they think they’re important.
Quarterly projections must go up. That is the sole measure of how good a society is.
Won’t somebody please think of the shareholders!? And spare a thought for those poor CEOs who might have to sell a Ferrari in order to eke out a meagre living if the taxes go up by 1%!
I think many of them know that and are just career hooligans.
Sprinkled with self-hating immigrant background for good measure.
This is why I’ve shied away from new AAA titles in general. I keep going back to the older stuff because in the words of Godd Howard “It just works.” or smaller indie titles where a beta state is forgivable, yet still less of a mess than Cyberpunk on launch day.
Agreed! I’m sure that testing this scheme in such a substantial city will generate a lot of useful data.
In some ways, alcohol is more damaging to society than drugs and part of British society glorifies drunken stupidity. But more importantly, congrats on going sober!
They should drop the pretenses and rename DWP to Aktion T4. It does the same thing.
