I’m also not vegetarian or vegan, but have transitioned to a much more plant based diet. The secret isn’t finding meat replacements, it’s just finding recipes that don’t use meat. I mess around a lot with Indian, Southeast Asian, Middle Eastern, and North African cuisines. Chickpeas and lentils (most beans and legumes, actually) are my best friends. I’ve found that even though it’s a grain, farro helps me feel full. I’m pretty sure you can make a lot of Mexican/Central American stuff without meat (but probably not without cheese/dairy), but I’m not positive because I’m actually not that big on black beans.

I wish Buffalo was closer in size to Cleveland or Pittsburg, but being within driving distance of Toronto and to a lesser extent NYC (on top of the aforementioned Cleveland and Pittsburg) is pretty friggin great.

Novo Nordisk is a Danish company, not American.

I say this as someone who’s been playing in a 2e campaign for the past two and a half years and has been GMing one the past year and largely greatly prefers PF2e to 5e. There are some great elements in 2e like degrees of success, the three action economy, lots of customization options, great GM support, and Paizo overall being a better company that Hasbro. But let’s not kid ourselves here: Pathfinder is just reskinned DnD. Heroic fantasy where you roll a d20 and add a modifier.

I think, generally, most people don’t really give a shit about oil and gas workers. They’re just trying get food and housing just like everyone else. People hate oil and gas companies though, and that hatred is righteous and justified.

Aha, that’s fair. I got a friend to join my PF2e campaign by saying “the mechanical building blocks are all the same. Roll a d20 and a number, total determines success.” which is, I think, an accurate description despite what a lot of PF2e players will say.

That being said, you have any suggestions for someone who likes the the tactical nature and crunch of PF2e and doesn’t really have an interest in rules light or narrative driven games (my hot take: narrative drive exists independent of rule set - you can have a narrative driven PF2e game or any other rule system). I feel like Lancer or 13th Ave are probably the most likely candidates, but wondering if there are others.

When our party was three or four players, the GM said he’d run a session as long as there were two or three, respectively. We went to a fifth and as long as there’s three players, the DM runs the session. I’ve since gone ahead and implemented the same rule with the group I GM. I think it’s better for everyone. People who want to play still get to play, the people who can’t make it don’t feel bad because their absence cancels the game/don’t feel obligated to play if they don’t want to.

Older me kinda wishes younger me had considered accounting, but younger me was hung up on your first point. Younger me didn’t want a boring job. Older me is like “I don’t have to love my job, I just have to not hate it. I can do the things I love during my time.” And a low key, low stress, high autonomy job kinda nails that. I’m kind of accounting adjacent (data analyst) and it’s working out so far, but there’s probably more salary stability in your career vs mine. The February to May crunch kinda scares me tho.

I still check out a couple hobby subs every day or two (via mobile browser, not the app). And if I’m looking for a certain type of information or advice, im still typing “[info desired] reddit” into google.
