Yes. If your country is authoritarian use cryptocurrency such as Monero. Even Bitcoin can be much better.
The bank would know the amount, the merchant and other details even if it’s a merchant from abroad. The bank might have a duty to report certain transactions or could be forced to give out a record. Other international payment process or foreign banks will generally not refuse a request if it comes from a country government you are a citizen of.
You can use crypto to buy gift cards to shop at regular retailers. This is your safest bet if you’re concerned about a state surveillance of your transactions.
Thank you for doing this, can I ask what’s the difference between a FOSAI model and other llama2 model that people are creating?
Actually you weren’t wrong. If you’re a Lemmy.world user your images are stored at Lemmy.world
It should be a signature that is sent together with the ActivityPub Object. Yes, if the signature doesn’t match, the content, whether a post, comment, favorite, upvote, etc… should be dropped.
Here is the source code of the library that lemmy uses to handle incoming objects and you can see that it does a call to verify the signature of the actor:
Messages are sent with a digital signature that only the original instance could craft.
If you’re automatically charged when the free trial ends then you should absolutely be allowed to cancel a free trial so that you’re not charged and keep using it until the last day it was offered to you.
Depends on who owns the network as well and if you’re connected to a corporate VPN. The rule of thumb is that you can’t expect privacy if you’re not the sole admin of that computer.
This might have to do with downtime on lemmy.world and lemmy.ml which prevented them from getting the request to delete the comment.
The Hot timeline becomes stale if the lemmy server isn’t restarted every 6 hours or so, which takes 10 seconds but can’t be done on larger instances such as lemmy.world because it kills the queue of outgoing activity.
This is a known bug and is being worked on. For the time being you should try with “top 6 hours” and “top 12 hours” sorting.
If you visit their homepage. You can fetch your local post if you take that url from their homepage and paste it in the search page of your instance.
Did you find a solution. The above comment with the database query should work. You can access the docker container where the database is running with docker exec -it instancedomain_postgres_1 busybox /bin/sh
and then run psql -U databaseuser
which by default is ‘lemmy’.
Check docker ps
to know the exact name of the postgres container which in your case likely is lemmytalungorg_postgres_1
You should be able to purge the user if you visit their profile.
Close the windows, curtains and shades during the day, at around 8-9AM. When it’s very warm outside, open windows are your enemy.
Open windows, curtains and shades during the night when temperature is lowering.
Good bot!
Who would be so pissed at lemmy.world to DDoS them?
They might want to consider using Cloudflare or a similar solution if they don’t already.
You’d need to take your site down for a while since write access is necessary to that table to avoid duplicates. But yeah, once you’ve done a vacuum full you could find a way to each day trim old entries.
You can delete old entries from the table. The space will not be released to the filesystem automatically though, but you won’t have to worry about it until enough days pass where it’s filled up the same amount that was freed.
Yes, but It’s pretty hands off since 99% of security stuff is managed for you by the Lemmy software, including rate limiting. Just make sure you use a secure password and if you want put the instance behind cloudflare which is super easy to do.
