Preferred the stock UI of Kbin, then I found out about userstyles and am in love with them. I’m a big fan of the microblogging, as it’s a place for posts that don’t warrant a full thread, but can still spark discussion. The politics of the Lemmy devs disgust me, so I’d rather not use a site using their software. Public upvotes/downvotes are great IMO, lets things be more transparent (like for instance I upvote all my posts, without it being public no one would know), plus it helps catch fake votes.

I also just find the name Kbin to be more catchy than Lemmy. Like GabeN, or k than.

Even then with AAA multiplayer, it’s not a guarantee it’s unplayable. Every Halo game on Steam works just fine, and Apex Legends was one of the first AAA MP games to support the Deck.

If you’re on console, Black Ops 2. The maps aren’t my favourite, but IMO the core zombies experience was perfected and it’s been all downhill since. Polished experience with a solid gun roster and nice difficulty. Plus there’s maps for nearly every skill level. Just wish there was more than just Nuketown and the sub-Tranzits for those of us who want a pure survival experience.

If you’re on PC, WaW or BO3. WaW hss a massive back catalogue of custom maps, plus is one of the few CoD games that’s reasonably priced on Steam. BO3 requires you to pay a lot more, but is a much easier source of playing modded zombies. This is just my opinion, but I’m not a big fan of unmodded BO3, guns are uninspired and feel awful, and gobblegums are a fuck that never should’ve been added. And then objectively, WaW is super buggy, and has a fit if you alt tab, but, subjectively, the simpler custom maps (not to say they can’t be complex, Leviathan was a WaW custom map) give off a nostalgic vibe.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX. The originals were the games that made me realize gamrs could make me feel things, and DX is literally just them but with QoL changes.

Bless Harvey’s for Frings. I can never choose between the two so Frings has been amazing ever since I was a kid.

Could 100% tell it was going to hell the past while, knew it was mainstream for several years now, ever since I started hearing radio hosts talk about Reddit. However, a few months ago I was helping my mom with something, and I glanced at her phone to see Reddit open. That’s when I thought “Oh. Reddit’s over”.

Kbin has been so much better than what I’ve seen of the official app. I see what I want to see, not recommendations, and, more importantly, I can see a lot more posts at once compared to new reddit and the reddit app. That’s why I don’t use Squabbles, and it’s why I used Baconreader and old reddit.

Hopefully people are able to realize what the corresponding platform is doesn’t matter, it can be anything.

I think of this like game servers.

The site you’re using is your platform (kbin=pc, mastodon=xbox, lemmy=ps). After that, the instances are what servers you connect to (lemmy.ca=psNA, whatever on mastodon=xboxSEA, kbin.social=pcEU. Then, federation is bringing it all together with crossplay.

2013 for me. There definitely was a shift in volatility in 2016, but I felt there was a far more drastic shift in 2019.

Around 2019 is when I noticed that shift.

Oh damn, really? That’s funny. I thought the microblogs and Mastodon integration just shared the same area, but goes to show how much I know lmao.

As part of the DDoS protection, kbin’s currently not federated as to not get more traffic from other places in the fediverse. I believe you can still see lemmy communities and subscribe to them, but there’s not really much there currently because kbin’s not federating.

I’m completely new to the whole fediverse thing though, so I could be talking out of my ass regarding why it’s not federating.

I’ve made accounts on lemmy.ml, lemmy.ca, requested beehaw.org, and here, but probably going to stick with here for UI reasons plus I like the microblogs for things that don’t exactly warrant a post. The Mastodon integration is neat, but I doubt I’ll really use it since I never used Mastodon before.

Probably going to stick around here and Tildes (though that’s not the fediverse). Subscribed to a bunch of communities in the various lemmy instances before federation was took down for a bit, so hopefully one niche community grows there. Made one of my own for a relatively niche game I play (it’s a decently popular game, but it’s definitely niche).
