I hate that I have just a shitty quality picture of a picture of that moment.
I’d personally still rather have the authentic moment captured than an AI-polished version of it.

The same politicians who relentlessly look for excuses to cut health care spending don’t care for a second about all of the wasteful military and police spending occurring.

Centralized social media platforms don’t give you the luxury of picking instances with variable degrees of moderation, so I fail to see how forgoing decentralization would help things; the better alternative is simply picking a good instance to start with.
Here’s an overview I posted the other day of how to choose an instance. In regards to fedinsfw.app, I would personally recommend against choosing a nsfw-focused instance for one’s main account as that instance is likely to get defederated by instances with stringent rules against such content. Content from that instance can be easily accessed by instances that are expressly open to that content and remain widely federated themselves.

Every instance operates differently; the distributed nature of the Fediverse means that some mods and admins have different rules that they enforce in different ways. There’s no need to abandon the entire network over the actions of a few; just participate on a different instance.

there are laws on the books that are supposed to prevent children from accessing things they we as a society have agreed they have no business accessing
The problem is that different societies have different lists of things that they deem children shouldn’t access (or in some cases, citizens in general). For instance, conservative-leaning U.S. states are increasingly labeling any and all LGBTQ content as being unsuitable for children, furthering their indoctrination against a persecuted minority group.
Parents are in the wrong for preventing their children from accessing content depicting LGBTQ perspectives, and age verification tools in such markets are likely to be designed with the express intent of blocking access to LGBTQ content for minors by default.

Price histories for games on both ITAD and gg.deals seem to go back to 2014.

Surely a non-AI slop pile of money illustration could have been used instead?

Sounds like a non-tariff barrier to trade that other countries should bring up in trade negotiations.
It was just announced here; it’s starting on May 4th.

Most Trump supporters still won’t care; most haven’t seen it because their preferred sources of propaganda won’t have shown it, while those who have will dismiss it as just another fault of AI.
With plenty of meaningful news stories to post, tabloids like The Mirror aren’t particularly helpful.

Fake propaganda.

Because threatening to destroy another civilization is the pinnacle of civility.
Until April 16, according to the developer.

Au revoir would imply a desire to use Windows again; salut or adieu would be more fitting.

Your post’s title seems to just be the link at the moment?

It’s disgusting that IBM is giving in rather than litigating.
Anything other than a commitment to allow hassle-free third-party app installations without the presence of Google Play Services is a distraction from the most meaningful change in Android 17.
