Autism@lemmy.world•How do you find mandatory socialising?English
1·13 days agoMost of my work events are during business hours and “on the clock”. The ones that aren’t are high value usually - white water rafting for example. Or volunteer events (which usually come with PTO time). Or incentives - like Christmas party of annual company picnic - prizes.
That reminds me, next week is the quarterly massage.

10·13 days agoYes, but it’ll lighten the demand on other DRAM manufacturers, so we should still see some benefits.

8·17 days agoUnfortunate. Based on what I can find it’s a solo outfit, so the owner / operator (who I did find but won’t name, just check the blog though) might be indisposed for whatever reason. Couldn’t find anything online though.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•3D Printable Steam Machine Companion Cube Case by JaronEnglish
5·19 days agoMy first thought was to take it apart and fix whatever the problem is, I’ve fixed issues like this before.
But I also bought it to be plug and play - disassembling to fix what is either a shipping issue or manufacturing defect is not plug and play. So I decided I would use this opportunity to see how the support experience is. So far my consensus is I’m glad I haven’t had any issues with my Steam Deck…
What do you mean you “hope” rape is objectively bad? Can you expand on that? I find that phrasing to be… Weird

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•3D Printable Steam Machine Companion Cube Case by JaronEnglish
11·19 days agoIt makes a loud and very obnoxious mechanical clicking noise that gets worse under load. I’m guessing one of the internal fans got damaged in shipping.
I opened my ticket with a video and explanation - a quick “hey, this is the first boot I’ve not even hooked up a monitor and listen to this noise”.
So far Steam support has asked me if I’ve modified or disassembled it, then told me to try factory resetting it, uninstall any third party plugins, and turn off “updated fan controller”. Last I heard from them was early Wednesday that they’re looking into it. No followup just complete radio silence.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How do you manage you DB in a docker environment?English
1·2 months agoYes that’s good enough! Sorry I missed your statement about shutting down first. To clarify I leave mine running since a dump can recover if it gets corrupt.
Basically my backup contains the database and the SQL dump (or equivalent) - that way I don’t need to shutdown the service.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How do you manage you DB in a docker environment?English
1·2 months agoMost of the time that’s perfectly fine, but if the database were in the middle of an operation you risk corruption.

I read this meme and was physically revolted and wanted to immediately down vote. Great job.
