The Senate Democrats also reintroduced the bill on its own, and let the Republicans vote against it. This was absolutely a political move on their part, letting the GOP tear itself apart arguing about whether they should’ve voted for or against it. They’re taking advantage of the existing tensions and divisions within the party to weaken them.

Katanji Brown Jackson was appointed to the Supremell Court in 2022, by Democratic President Joe Biden. She replaced Stephen Breyer when he retired.
Thanks 👍
With a little reverse-image-searching, it also looks like it’s from 2018. I like this graphic, I’d love to see a more recent version of this. For instance, I think Disney aquired FOX in 2019, and this chart still shows it being owned by 20th Century Fox.
Do you have a source for this? I’ve seen charts like these, but they never have a date on them, so I can’t tell if they’re still accurate, or out of date.
I’m getting the impression that a lot of foreigners think the American public generally supports the current healthcare system. We don’t.
Complaining about our healthcare is practically a National pass time. We all want something better, but it’s also one more problem in a burning pile of problems, which we have few tools to fix.
Some good news, is that we’re making some small progress on that front. We’re finally begging to rebuild our unions, which were dismantled decades ago, and the American public is becoming more politically engaged. Hopefully, these trends continuing a positive direction, and are resilient to being torn down again.
There is some small progress in that direction, but the organizations which would allow us to actively act have long ago been dismantled. We’re only just recently begging to rebuild our unions here. I hope this time, organized labor is more resilient.
In our defense, the Republican “half” of the country aren’t actually half the country. They’re the smallest of the 3 major political affiliations among votin-age Americans: “None”, “Democrat”, and then “Republican”. In that order.
“None” is the largest single political affiliation in America, and that has been a kind of negative feedback loop in our politics. People are disenfranchised and feel disconnected from the governance of our country, so they don’t (or can’t) vote, and because they don’t vote, they’re not represented in government and are easier to disenfranchise. This, and rampent legalized bribery, have created a great deal of our problems.
Not to say voters are the source of the feedback loop, it’s being actively driven by autocratic politicians and moneyed interest.
Replaceable battery, micro SD card slots are hard to come by these days, too.
200€ is Euros, about $212.
Crazy Train, Mr. Crowley, Bark at The Moon, Scary Little Green Men… Really any of Ozzy Osbourne’a better songs.
My brother in Christ Comrade in the revolution, Communism is a stateless, moneyless, classless society. Whatever self-proclaimed “Statist Communists” thare are, are no-more Communist than the National “Socialists” who sent our kind to the death camps.
Noted. Good bot.
It’s good so-far, & I hope it continues to grow & improve. I’ve seen some communities partially shift to Lemmy, which is good, & I hope more of them come over. There are/were some thriving niche communities on Reddit which might be better served on an open platform like Lemmy. We already have c/vexillology for instance, but it’s still relatively small & inactive compared to the old r/vexillology. I’ve got some stuff I’ve been working on myself which I hope to help contribute to this project.
I’ve got some stuff I’m working on that I want to add post to that. I really hope the r/Vexillology community moves to there. For now, it looks like it’s mostly one user listing historical flags. Which is nice, but it’s missing the whole thriving community & the fun contests.
An a further note - I want to contribute to the existing communities here, but it’s been an issue of time for me. Especially for starting a community. I’ll try & find the time to post.
I still peek at Reddit occasionally for r/vexillology & some related & similar communities. There’s just no presence of them here that I’ve seen so-far. I hope they can manage to migrate, because it’s just about the only thing that keeps me going back to that pit. It’d be nice to see more local communities, too. There were whole thriving subreddits for different states & cities, not so much, here.
You’re on it now, bud. It’s here, you’re in it. Welcome!
Neither Amazon nor Google are not part of the Fediverse. If you use their suites of software, you’ll be part of their non-federated, closed systems.
Lemmy, Mastodon, Pixelfed, Threads, and many, many others are Federated, but not the big corporate entities… Except Threads, stretching out from Meta’s own little digital fiefdom.
