I’m so lucky to have had cancer in Australia and not the USA.

My chemo cost AUD$28,000 a month for two years (but as an Australian citizen I didn’t pay that much). So either more than that or as much as the drug companies can gouge, or both.

Having a reason to give up gave me willpower.

My wife at the time was pregnant with our first child. I decided that if the kid wanted to smoke, he could make that choice when he was old enough, but I didn’t want him to grow up seeing that smoking was normal and usual. So I quit cold turkey, Easter Sunday, 1996.
