Yea its a meme of the format of the TikTok ban message, though there is also a sub-joke is the PID being how the US’s political parties swing back and forth, which is in the part where TikTok referred to trump planning on revoking the ban, and that it just needs to wait for it to finish swinging back right.
Libraries are good, and a great community resource that should be treasured. However, no library can have the sheer volume of information available that YouTube and the Internet do. There is also the benefit of having more kinds of content, plus the ease of putting information out there.
For example, say I want to learn about the specifics of the defense economics of the war in Ukraine. Sure, I could wait 15 years for books to be published about it, hope my local library buys it, and then go and read it. Or I could log on to YouTube right now and go watch the latest Perun video on it which is also more entertaining. This also is an example of speed of new information being available on current events.
Both of these things have their strengths and weaknesses but it is simply a fact that YouTube has changed the availability of information to quite a high degree.
Yea that sounds right. It works quite well for most things, just specifically helldivers and/or it’s anticheat absolutely hates it. On lowest settings I get like 30-40fps depending on how much I upscale with freezes every 10 seconds lasting .5-1 seconds. Simply unplayable, so I’ve gone back to using my 1080ti in my pc
I have a precision 3571 and it’s pretty solid, I’ve been using it as my main gaming computer because it’s better than my old PC, it does have a few drawbacks tho.
Pros:
Cons:
I mean, he does show the final product pretty early on. Plus as others said, the video (and most of the channel) is about how and why it works, which to me is much more interesting than the 4 second clip.
Yea sounds like bullshit green washing from a surface perspective. At best it’s still supporting the airline industry possibly transitioning to a somewhat more renewable fuel, and at worst throwing your money to Alaska’s stockholders.
Plus, realistically the only way the industry will meaningfully change fuels are if the new fuel is cheaper or the more polluting fuels are banned and SAF mandated.
So like… Don’t build it out of ice then? Also it’s a book that may or may not be fully accurate, and should be taken as a thought experiment and story
There are plenty of valid concerns but that is not one of them lol
Yep, currently industry needs to be cutting down a much emotion as possible, but DAC will probably still be needed in a couple decades, and research takes time so it’s still good that it is happening now.
As an outsider to a lot of such corporate things it sounds like they both suck a lot, just in different ways.
Yea from the article it’s pretty much just that it’s hard to go through the process of getting approved to get the loan and proving that it’s worthwhile to the government.
“One hang-up has been a requirement that companies get funding from private investors before the loans can go out. The program’s rigorous due-diligence process, higher interest rates and slowing growth in electric-car sales have made it harder to get deals done.”
It was initially a pwa, but now it is a full and proper app, even available on Google play now!
I believe it can still be used as a pwa though.
Depends how you do it, currently absolutely not because it uses coal coke usually for the heating and/or carbon infusion. To have it be carbon capture you would have to heat it with an arc furnace or something, completely powered by renewables (this is actually very hard to to because of the ridiculously high temperatures involved) and then find some way to use captured carbon to put into the mix, or potentially using very pure charcoal or something
According to the article the way they define green steel is using arc furnaces or hydrogen to heat the steel, idk how they do the carbon input tho.
Exactly. When discord updated their mobile UI everyone immediately hated it cuz different. There were legitimately some poor decisions made, but then they went and reverted like half of it after people had started to get used to it. For example, I got used to and liked where they moved dms to and they reverted it back, but kept having to tap on the name of a channel to view the users in it instead of just swiping left.
Edit: and I’m also now used to the bad things they kept.
Unfortunately, there is also almost certainly a secondary problem in that the parks and rescue services are underfunded to do such overhauls. Granted, some better off ones probably can and will but likely not all.
WE CAN DO BOTH!
The future of our energy generation is not a zero sum game, we can simultaneously build out and continuing developing solar, wind, mass storage, and other already proving things while also continuing development on SMR and building large nuclear reactors too. Sure, the nuclear options will take longer to bear fruit but we will likely still be needing more clean energy by the time they do, even with pumping out other renewables as fast as we can.
Well yeah, but the intention is to lessen the effects of the warming already happening and what will happen in the future no matter what we do. Nobody is pretending like we need to do this instead of cutting emissions, (except maybe oil execs I guess), we can do both at once.
The one downside of this and other geoengineering options is that once we start we can’t stop until CO2 levels drop back down so we don’t get a more sudden global temperature spike which would be worse for the environment most likely
Honestly I could maybe believe the 20 countries thing because it is highly dependent on what countries those 20 are and there’s a lot of tiny countries out there
I think they definitely dropped a kilo somewhere for the numbers they got tho
Oh trust me there are plenty more that are elsewhere too
