I think because they try so hard to be edgy (eheh) and different from the others, by constantly trashing known tested paradigms, refusing to fix known problems, all whike trying to invent the “brand new thing” that nobody wants and never reallt works out.

CoMaps@sopuli.xyz•Why are open maps so bad with searching?English
7·2 天前Not at all. I love Organic Maps/Comaps and I think in many aspects including usability (GM is trash to navigate and drains batteries like hell), it’s much better than GM. However, when I want to reach a place I either find the address online, or search on google maps and then navigate to it with a better, lighter, offline, more beautiful app.
I’m just saying that open source maps usually are heavily lacking on the search functionality, and that’s sad but understandable.

4·2 天前I don’t know much about the topic, but I guess even if that’s the case, it’s likely most open source projects just don’t have contributors knowledgeable or willing to invest the time
Windows 8 ia older now (13 years) than XP was when 8 came out (11 years). Feel old yet?
Windows 10 is almost as old (10 years).

Community data like OpenSteeetMap rely on voluntary submissions, so the data can be either obsessive-level complete or non-existent. Especially businesses don’t put themselves on OSM so their location/name/info are somewhat old or just don’t exist
-
Search algorithms are incredibly complex to make it work well, Google (the king lf search engines) has likely hundreds of people working on an algorithm, Apple the same way
-
Offline search is also very taxing even if tue app implemented such algorithms, google maps searches with their billion dollars servers

I think Skibidi Toilet is way healthier than mainstream comedic tropes like “fat guy funny” or “gay guy effemminate” that were soooo common in mainstream TV and now are (luckily) fading out.
Brainrot is equally stupid but more self-concious and more honest.
And to be honest, the first time I stumbled upon Skibidi Toilet, I thought it was a 2012 Garry’s mod stupid video, game me the same vibe.
However, Ai-slop brainrot (brainslop? Sloprot?), that feels worse. I know I’m pulling out the “kids these days card”, but what really changed is the media: TikTok and all the Tok-likes+AI are becoming better and better at rotting your brain. I don’t know if they really worsen the attention span, even temporarily, but I’m convinced it reduces people’s happiness and is the closest we can get to mind control as the consiracists intend it to be
If the situation turns out where Trump is falling (unlikely but not impossible), you accept a plea deal with current Trump allies that will wait for him to look away and throw him under the bus, so someone else will take power.
That works under the assumption that Trump falls and crumbles
If I saw such a sign, I would be even more worried. As they say, every sign has a story behind

Bobo The Great@startrek.websitetoMental Health@lemmy.world•Anxiety... heart rate is like 110 per minute for the past hour. Wtf? I feel like as if I were in a warzone or something (metaphorically speaking)English
3·5 天前You’re not speaking metaphorically, anxiety for an exam, or even for just showing up at work, is the same emotion one feels when in a warzone. Your brain is mistakely interpreting some signals as life threatening and trying to save your life by preparing for fight/flight. The immediate cause might be hard to find.
That’s not being hard on yourself, that would be punishing yourself for your failure and telling yourself you are such a disgrace.

We really live in crazy times
With the amount of work they are putting in compatibility layers technology, I wouldn’t be surprised if you could run The Witcher 3 on it out of the box.

82·8 天前At least they tried to hide it, now they don’t.
As for the cold war, if you consider the conflict USA-USSR they clearly won: Russia was, at least at some point, equally powerful to the USA technologically and militarly, what one did first, the other caught up pretty quickly, then the Soviet Government collapsed for various reasons, and they couldn’t catch up, now the USA is arguably the most technologically advanced country in the world, in many aspects.
China is catching up, but they are in no way equally capable.

8·9 天前I don’t want any “smart” crap in my house, I don’t want my appliances to be connected to the internet and to be controlled by an app, it should all be self sufficient.
And if you really want to add the option to be controlled remotely (but should not be the only way) make it a local connection, why should my phone connect to the internet to turn on an AC located three meters away?

1·12 天前Betheda being bethesda as usual, releasing overpriced merchandise, selling the same game you alreadt bought, while not even caring enough to implement bug fixes that modders already figured out gratis for you.
And gamers spread their asscheeks so they can collect every version of the game that Todd spits out his mouth.
Sorry for my saltyness, but bethesda really grinds my gear like few others do.

Don’t compare yourself to others, what works for them doesn’t necesserily works for you. Do what you enjoy, try and spend as little as you can so you don’t have to worry about abandoning them and regret, and try and not hoard hobbies: if you buy a guitar but didn’t play it for 3 years, maybe it’s time to sell if and recover some money, if you know you don’t care about it. Just try and not feel too bad about it. Hobbies are and should be to enjoy passing times only.
