Llama.cpp running qwen 3.8 on a mini PC with 32GB ddr5 ram and 8GB vram. Not the most speedy but it works. I only really access it while at home but I’m also set up with tailscale.

Library science is more about curating and organizing information than running a library. Most people with MLS degrees don’t work in a library.

See if there is an XDA page for your device. If it has a qualcomm chip, there’s likely some custom roms for it.
Same. It took about a decade after the widespread removal of headphone jacks before wireless headphones became a reliable replacement. Now I can’t imagine being tethered to my phone.
I have the FP6+, currently running iodeos and I’m very happy with it.

Atheism@lemmy.world•Do you think humans will ever give up religion in future?English
1·1 month agoAt some point in the future, yes I think so. Religion continues to exist because it fills many needs at the societal and individual level beyond just belief in the supernatural. People use religion for community, a sense of (greater or worldly) purpose, a moral compass, to accept mortality, deal with loss or big emotions, plain boredom, to control themselves or others, get power, make money, etc.
Assuming humanity doesn’t wipe itself out in the future, people will find other ways to fill the needs or answer the questions they currently use religion for. Religion will cease to exist but that doesn’t mean the things that replace it will be better.

Technology@lemmy.world•80% of developers find AI coding more addictive than helpfulEnglish
4·2 months agoPair programming/writing/creating is exactly how AI is meant to be used. It is an augmentor not a replacement for human competence. The person using it still has to do the thinking, qc, and directing, not take the first output as final.
I think you might have missed my point. It is a travesty that so much food still gets tossed when there are many avenues to avoid doing so.
Sure, public awareness about food rescue options could be better but it takes a few minutes of searching to find a local group that will come pick up the food.
It really is that simple and already happens at a modest scale in the US. Businesses that want to put their unsellable food to good use have many options to do so without taking on additional cost.
It’s a large chunk of how food banks and shelters are supplied. There are also non profits dedicated to collecting edible food that would be thrown away otherwise and distributing them.

It’s true that a lot of research in the US until the last few decades focused on men. However, any research on the general population has been required to include women since around the 1990s if funded by the government.
There’s been a massive push to catch up on research topics related to women since then. Policies, regulations, and applications follow slowly after research but looking at sex differences is pretty much standard in human research now. Still a whole lot of catching up to do of course.
I work on NIH’s women’s research initiatives so I know a bit about this but it’s easy enough to confirm for yourself. Search PubMed for systematic reviews or meta-analyses from the last 15 or so years on basically any human or public health related topic and you’ll very likely see references to women or sex differences.
