I was thinking about fuels like HVO. They work well, but have their own ecological implications.

Renewable fuels exist and are used today, but the efficiency and pollution aspects still apply.

As long as there are no relevant changes in the root zone (and according to the article, there were none) this root server issue was likely without impact.

The raw electricity usage is ~25 times lower for E-Bikes. And that is not counting in the 2 ton weight difference with all this steel, battery cells, electronics etc.
