My dad l, who worked in tech / IT his whole life (retired now) l, had a problem with his ISP. Called to report it and the next day they called him back, got him to install ‘remote support software’, etc. He eventually saw what they were up to and pulled the plug. Turned out 2 guys at the ISP were selling support tickets to the scammers.
So the expectation was there—who knows how many people they got before they were found.
Is he a Welsh collie? If so,he likely took the name as an instruction and is telling you he’s ready to start coding.
I want to hear the story about the fixer’s mother. She sounds impressive.
I taught my kids our family motto when they were just 6 and 4. “He who puts his nose too hard to the grindstone gets bits of shredded nose in his flour.”
It’s served us all well for many many years.
Saw some students try to do that with a relatively small car badly parked on campus. They decided they could probably lift it with one on each corner. Unfortunately they each grabbed a wheel arch and came away with handfuls of corroded bodywork. The rest of the car stayed where it was and they ran.
Back in the 1990s, a colleague and I manage to get the “Performance Enterprise Network Information System” project endorsed and launched across a team of several hundred people. Someone remarked it was a bit of a mouthful. We were very proud.
I don’t know tbh, but I’ve seen many lemmy posts with multiple images… maybe it depends on your client, or were you using the web interface?
But even a Dropbox or google drive wouldn’t have that level of scamware popping up all over the place.
That gallery site was an interesting choice for a post on privacy… My phone has an extra mic installed after trying to navigate it.
Children of Ruin paints a glorious picture of the possibilities.
I turned 54 this year and went to Legoland in Billund, 50 years to the month since I was last there. Found the exact same street model that my dad took cine film of.
Well, this was of its time, and tbh I was fairly surprised to still find it, but every time I hear about him, I’m reminded of that interview with his father, and this song.
I’m not your buddy, pal.
(that’s another way wars start)
That site stuck so many ads to my phone; I can’t get them off—what solvent should I use?
The comments so far have been far more helpful and informative than I was hoping for.
Yeah, I’ve booked flights and made sure to check / clear all the relevant checkboxes. They then dress this up as ‘important information about your flight’. If it’s that important, why is there still an ‘unsubscribe’ link???
I’ve been with Purelymail for years on several domains I look after. Not had a single issue. I went to them for pricing and simplicity but their privacy looks fine to me too.
Do know that internet use, like domain and VPN track, was too?
Exactly—could easily have been much worse, and anyone without at least a little IT knowledge might not have realised. Kind of shows the lengths they’ll go to now, getting employed at targets etc.
