Thank you for providing more information and those articles.
I’ve been reading a little about this this morning and it’s kinda crazy that probably the largest humanitarian crisis on earth right now isn’t getting more mainstream media attention.

You don’t find happiness. It comes and goes. Imagine being happy all the time; it would just become normal. You need non happy times to appreciate the happy times.
As someone that is either very happy or very sad, I find happiness in my hobbies. I need my mind to be occupied to pass the time, but then there is the thought I’m just waiting to die and passing time.
Hobbies that make me happy are:
As someone who is down a lot of the time and has ADHD but stopped the meds as the side affects were worse than living with ADHD; I’ve found that routine is a massive thing required to be content with life. Consistent bed time and wake time. I am not a morning person but after 18 months of waking at 07:30 or 06:00, depending on if I’m taking the train to work, that I now wake up a few minutes before my alarm quite often; I’m still tired and I hate it but it gets easier.
Spending time with other people is key too. I find if I’m down it’s usually cause I’ve been alone a lot (which I love) and that can be bad for me so I’ll go see friends even if I don’t want to just to engage.
Luckily I can spot when I’m spiralling. I have an urge to fire up Minecraft and live vicariously through Steve and shut out the world.
I don’t really know much about this, but this feels wrong.
Why punish consumers, we should be striving to make European cars cheaper not make Chinese ones more expensive.
I’m sure there are many European countries where the government funds progression in other industries.
We also let American companies take control of industries.
I’m interested in hearing more about what’s happening in Sudan and why.
I’ve been to a lot of pro Palestine marches and there is often a lot of Sudanese people there speaking about issues happening there.
Erm… normal I guess. I don’t know what it would feel like with children.
What I do know is I would be a terrible parent, I only got my shit together in my late thirties and I wouldn’t have been a good parent, so it’s good for the kids that I didn’t have any.
Charlie aka MoistCritical seems genuine. I guess we will see in the future.
These are all example from decades ago growing up in the 90’s.
I was called gay for not liking soccer, like it’s gay to not watch men chase a ball in shorts.
I was called gay for wearing UGG boots as a dude. Like if we even want to accept gay as an insult, I would argue the person bothered by such things as what shoes one is wearing is more fitting of an insult.
Fun fact. When I had a house mate who was gay, it was very difficult not to use gay as a word for something that wasn’t fun. Like this show is gay. He didn’t mind, but still wanted to stop.
I’m not American so not sure I can vote, but I was I would absolutely be voting for the Dems, as the way it appears to me is Trump would be a lot worse for Palestinians than Harris would. This isn’t to say Harris will be good for Palestine, but if I tie you to a chair and tell you I’m either going to remove one of your eyes or both of your eyes and if you abstain I’ll take them both anyway.
I’m sure you would reluctantly choose to lose one eye and not both.
This strikes me as you’ve never had to work menial jobs before, as the bare minimum in the other 60 jobs I’ve had in my life is paying me money, and nothing more.
I don’t see a lesser evil here, both are going to kill my family. The lesser evil would be if one party is only going to kill half my family and yes I would vote for that party over the one that is going to kill ALL my family, after all it’s a two party system and one of them is going to win.
Good point. Although, I would question whether Lemmy is such a place as we really don’t have the numbers to warrant the effort, imo.
This kinda makes sense, I guess that means not a swing state (I’m not American).
Do you have to be in a heavy blue state to do this without fear that if enough people do this it will swing red?
Which as a non-American seems to be Harris, right?
Why bother with a downtown anymore. Literally everything I want or need is walking distance.
Kinda reads like you think because downtown doesn’t fulfil your needs you don’t see a point to it.
Who do you imagine is responsible for the state of downtown areas? Capitalism seems to be the culprit for decimating downtown areas.
This is just conjecture on my part, but I imagine people are against a completely cashless society as it gives companies and the government more information about us than they deserve.
Do I want the government or credit card companies knowing everything that I spend my money on, where I parked my car etc. people should be allowed to be anonymous if they so choose and paying cash allows this to some extend.
Plus, how am I gonna buy my weed if we go cashless, back to dark web and waiting two weeks for delivery, 😩.
😂 touché
I am not American, but I believe the reason a felon can run is that the founding fathers didn’t want peoples political rivals to be able to bring charges to stop someone being president.
