Are you trying to lecture me on what I’m doing? I know very well myself what I’m doing. I’m here for the 5 communities there are and on Reddit for the rest.

How do you know I’m not on Reddit for 90% of the time?
Telegram is not an encrypted messenger with a focus on privacy. Ergo it’s not an attack on chat encryption and privacy. Why do people not seem to get that?!
They all learn? IBM basically got pushed out by China. This is good for China and bad for IBM.
Do you have any idea what the cost is to restore 50 TB from that?
I assumed you’re only paying per GB storage. At least that’s what their S3 pricing page says. I believe transfer cost only applies if you transfer from one S3 solution to another. I’m not using it myself, so I don’t know the details. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
What happens when they decide to raise the price?
If you depend on AWS you’re doing something wrong. You should at least adher to the 3-2-1 backup plan. If you do so, you can switch away from AWS any time they change their policy.
If you’re this paranoid for your backups, I’d just go with AWS Glacia and dump all your encrypted data twice a year. You can get a TB of backup for about 1 € / month.
Get M-discs. It’s a special type of Blu-ray that lasts for hundrets if not thousands of years. You can use a regular Blu-ray burner to write to it.
M-Disc Blu-rays last a thousand years literally. It will outlive all of your other mediums a hundred-fold.
Only 50k? I thought it would be much more than that. Didn’t know Lemmy was still this small after all these years.
You probably haven’t visited a good museum in a long time. You really should. The way they present some exhibitions is really informative and often also interactive. It’s very memorable and interesting. Wikipedia just isn’t the same and often doesn’t even have the right presentation or lacks information to get the points across.
If I could give you one advice: go look proactively for a reasonably large museum that aligns with your interests. You’ll be surprised how fun and informative it is.
And we called it what?
Good comment. Thanks for sharing that insightful information.
Is there any reason except spying of for baking this software into the OS? Why are they pushing so hard with this?!
As LLMs get better this will become a problem everywhere on the internet, not just Reddit.
Doesn’t even mention Firefox.

Basically every Valve product and software.
Why so passively aggressive?
My answer is: Ads, shitty company, shitty mods, shitty app, breaking third-party apps gave me the rest.
Why did you move here? Surely you didn’t move here because you wanted less content and less subs, or do you?
I’m not supporting anyone. I use whatever platform I like. I happen to not like Reddit so I wish to use an alternative. Unfortunately it’s very hard to find an alternative. It would be so easy for Lemmy to become that alternative if there was a couple bots filling in the gaps until there is enough users posting of their own.
Why are you here? Just to make a point? Or aren’t you also here for entertainment?
Telegram is not private at all. Nothing is encrypted except Secret Chat.
