Not all IoT is bad… If you decide to get some cloud IoT and keep it on the main network that’s on you, but you could have a separate vlan or even a separate protocol like zigbee and z-wave to secure these devices and control them locally with home assistant. There are phones that output analog audio over type C so you can have a type c to jack adapter with no dac inside, just wires. That is possible through Audio Adapter Accessory Alternate Mode.
My huawei tablet works with such an adapter, but when I try it with the samsung s10e which has a jack, it gives an error and doesn’t work.
Type C alternate modes are cool, too bad they are not advertised, they should be clearly labled and easily distinguishable. Type C has so many features yet it’s so hard to know what’s available without actually having the devices and connecting them. It’s both a blessing and a curse.
After you disconnect the VPN the interface likely goes down so qbit falls back to the actual connection I think.

When I was looking for a pi4 I stumbled upon orange pi, rock pi, banana pi and libre computer. They have models both cheaper and more expensive than the rpi. All depends on the specs you need.
Not sure where you’re from. But here is a random one from ebay . You will find many like it. I got this model with 4gb ram, 256 ssd and power supply for ~80€ on europe, much less then I could pay for any PI4 at the time that came with no case, no psu, no ssd. It idles around 3-4w headless with no peripherals running home assistant. There are other models too ofc. Just have a look around used hardware stores if you have them around your area.
You can get thin clients for much less than that… Better performance if needed, similar power efficiency for similar loads, they sometimes bring storage, power supply and ram and you don’t generate more e-waste as these are already being thrown out by many big companies every few years.
The only reason to go for the PI is if you really need the GPIO, the tiny form-factor and even then there are cheaper alternatives with similar or better spevs.
I have both eternity and infinity installed from f-droid and each opens up fine. Tho inifnity no longer wroks, guess it’s time to uninstall it
Unfortunately, as much as I like and use firefox on both pc and mobile, chrome and chromium based browsers dominate the market. It doesn’t help that they come pre-installed in both cases.
